Edward stood in front of his family that gathered in the living room. Despite Jacob's wounds - they were all happy. Including Bella who broke the werewolf's heart. But unfortunately, he had to break the news.

"Aaron wasn't lying," he calmly stated making everyone stop in their conversations. "One of the newborns could compel and had told Aaron to kill Alice. It was all Victoria's idea."

There was a slight pause before Bella looked at her fiancé - tears already brimming. "Where is she?"

"She left."

It was Alice's voice that spoke sending the room into another spiraling silence. No one knew what to say, especially Jasper who's heart was breaking into more pieces slowly with each passing moment. He thought the kiss with Alice would make her jealous, not leave.

"What am I going to do without here?" Bella cried out. "Sure, were arent on speaking terms right now, but she is my sister."

Edward barely had time to catch his mate before she fell to the ground. It had on been a few moments of her sobbing before her phone rang. She quickly wiped her tears, only to break when Charlie breathed her name.

Suddenly, she was scooped into Edward's arms who told Charlie he's bringing her home. And with them gone, everyone turned their eyes to Jasper. Who was staring a hole in the ground. Before they could blink - he was gone leaving the family to panic.

For the next five days, no one knew how to function properly.

The Cullen's searched endlessly for Jasper to no avail while Bella and Charlie tried to pick up the pieces she left behind. When Bella told her father that she was engaged - he didn't blink an eye. Only to mutter something under his breath before grabbing a beer.

It was six days after that when Charlie got the call from Aaron. "I'm fine. I'm sorry I didn't call. I pushed myself until I stopped at a hotel and fell asleep. Not to mention I needed time to think. I'll keep in touch, Dad. Don't worry too much."

But that was all she said before hanging up. For the first few weeks, she called and texted him every day. Until that turned into one call a week and that turned into one call a month, leaving the father heartbroken.

Sure enough, Jasper finally returned only a shell of a man. But life went back to normal - as normal as it could be anyway.

Then there was the wolfpack.

It felt as if someone took a knife and carved a huge chuck of them out. Aaron wasn't just a friend, but a pack member. An unofficial one, but still.

Paul was a mess, not knowing that his best friend was hurting inside. That he was part of the problem when it came to all of this. Trent tried to console him as much as he could, but he too felt the same way. And for the rest of the pack, they felt incomplete.

Now that Victoria was gone, there was no need to protect Bella or go out on patrols. All there was, was time to think about their friend that was gone. And if she was ever going to come back.

The sad thing was, they already knew the answer. So, they mourned their lost friend hoping one day she'd change her mind.

Aaron Swan never felt more free standing in her grandmothers field with the sun beating down on her face. She thought of that last time in the Phoenix sun all those months ago, but quickly brushed it aside.

When arriving at her grandmothers, the last thing she expected was to find a teenager. She pictured a old woman with wrinkles and barely able to walk. Instead, over a cup of tea, her grandmother told her the story of how she fell in love. Which in turn, turned her into an immortal.

Her heart longed to call everyone, but it needed time to heal. It was in a million different fragments before shattering one last time back at the clearing. Calling everyone would only piece it back together in the same manner.

So, as the months passed by, Charlie was the only one she kept in close contact with and hardly even that. And that was how things should have stayed.

That is, until Aaron Swan died.
