A Future Elvin World

Chapter 6-Sophie POV

I just had to put this pic in. That's of my adorable cat; Tigerlily. Now, with the story!

Sophie jolted awake with a start, glancing to the sky immediately. Dex grumbled something and stirred, sitting up and rubbing the sleep from his eyes. 

Relief settled in Sophie's chest when she saw the sun just starting to set behind the tops of the trees. 

I woke up just in time. 

She leapt to her feet, turning to Dex, who was looking at her with a blank gaze. "I have to go and meet someone."

"Who?" He asks, his voice raspy. 

Sophie tried not to wince at the question. She'd specifically not told Fitz and Keefe she was meeting with Tam because she'd known exactly what they would say. They'd tell her its too dangerous, especially alone. And if they came, all they would do is argue with each other and then Sophie would get nothing out of Tam. Not to mention he wanted to tell  her something.... alone. 

Sophie could admit that sounded a little suspicious. 

okay...

Maybe a lot suspicious. 

But Sophie trusted Tam. She didn't want to think he would do anything to harm her. 

"Sophie, who." Dex is on his feet now, moving towards her. She glances to him, needing to look upwards a little to meet his eyes. It still surprises her at how tall Dex is. He's at least a head taller then her now.

He glances to her with concern and she bites the inside of her lip hesitantly. 

She loves Dex, she really does. He was her best friend. But...

She didn't want him to get in the way. 

But I need to stop hiding things from my friends as well. 

Plus. it might be nice to have someone there. Dex respected her decisions too. He understood when to back down and when she needed his assistance. 

if she would bring anyone along with her. 

She'd bring Dex. 

"I'm meeting Tam."

Dex's eyes widened with surprise, then drifted to anger, then to concern and worry.

"And you were going to do this alone." he confirms and Sophie nods slowly, watching his gaze carefully. 

He blinks and stares. Then blinks again. 

Then he sighs, "Sophie... you can't keep doing things like this. You're going to get yourself killed one of these days."

"I know I know." Sophie muttered, glancing to the sky hastily. "but if I told the others they would all want to come and Tam specifically wanted me to come alone and-"

"He wanted you to go alone?" Dex asked incredulously and again, Sophie nodded. "Sophie, you're walking straight into a trap."

Sophie's heart falls when he says that. She knew that it may be.... but she didn't want to believe Tam would do that to her. 

That was a naïve way of thinking though... and she knew it. 

"You don't know that." She responded, "but yes, I know it sounds a little suspicious, but Dex, we also might be able to learn something." When Dex doesn't respond, Sophie says, "I'm not changing my mind, you know." She crosses her arms over her chest and Dex sighs. 

"I know your not." He grumbles, rolling his eyes. "but I'm going with you."

Sophie nods, "Okay. Let's go."
