Sunshine. That's what he awoke to. Beaming brightly through his window, painting the aspects of his room in a caramel hue. He sat up in his bed yawning deeply, he wasn't normally slow to wake but it was the weekend and he had promised Rhett that he would slow down. Throwing the blanket off he trudged from his bed to the bathroom, he grabbed his toothbrush and rinsed it underwater, grabbing the toothpaste he squeezed some on and rinsed it again. He stared quietly at the mirror as he brushed, his messy hair was screaming for a shower and a hairbrush, his green race pajamas were wrinkled and his tired eyes were asking for coffee.

He had just finished rinsing the foaming mouth soap off his brush when someone entered the doorway.
"Well look who's finally up"
He turned and smiled. Standing there was a tall woman with black skin and sandy blonde hair. He had been told it was a melanin issue, same with her sapphire blue eyes.
"Oh morning mom"
She chuckled and turned to the stairs, she paused.
"Oh, your breakfast is on the stove"
He nodded and closed the door to prepare for a shower. He removed his pajamas and briefs, turning on the water he grabbed a towel off the rake and placed it on the counter. He stepped into the shower the warm water felt wonderful against his skin as he washed.

He turned off the water and opened the curtain to grab his towel, he dried and wrapped the towel around his waist. Walking back to his room Gage made his way to his wardrobe. He pulled out some gray corduroy jeans and an orange shirt with a black 86 printed on the front, grabbing his socks he removed the towel and began to pull his clothes on, his jacket rested at the foot of his bed. Gage grabbed it and pulled on as he walked out the door. Back in the bathroom he pulled out the hair drier and brush and got to work.

He pranced down the stairs clean and refreshed and entered the kitchen. He found his father at the stove cooking while his mother read a book at the table sipping her coffee.
"Morning Gage, your quesadilla is on the table"
He made a beeline for the table where he found a quesadilla filled with bacon and cheese and a bit of egg on the side.
"Thanks, dad"
His younger sister walked in drinking a Pepsi and almost spat up her drink when she saw him, coughing she pointed to the phone.

"Uh... Larry... h-he uhm he called and asked for you"
A look of confusion crossed his face as he got up from his seat to pick up the phone, threw tired glassy eyes he read the small screen.
He redialed the number.
Bring Bring.
Bring Bring.
Brin-Click.
"Hello"
"Hey Larry May said you wanted to talk to me"
He could hear paper shuffling on the other end suggesting that Larry was dealing with some paperwork.
"Well the mayor phoned me earlier and asked if you boys are interested in having an on-air interview"
Gage thought for a moment.
"Have called the guys yet"
"..."

He took that as a no. Pinching the bridge of his nose he let a long aggravated sigh escape his throat.
"Ok call the guys and tell them that we've got an appointment"
"Ok, it's at about 10:30 ish so be ready"
Click. He put the phone back.
"What were you talking about"
He glanced at his mother as he grabbed a container for his food.
"The mayor wants us to do an on-air interview"
She hissed under breath.
"Mara we've been over this-"
She cut off her husband.
"I know, I know. He's not a child anymore"
Gage laughed as he placed his food in the fridge.
"Don't worry mom I'll be fine, it's just an interview. I mean really if you think about it I'm probably safer doing this"
"No. Your not."

He rolled his eyes and turned to her. Pointing a thumb at himself and smiled.
"Mom I can handle it, I'm tough and have the guys with me so. I'm. Fine. Capiche"
She shook her head and groaned.
"Naomi dear don't do that with your cutlery"
Their father looked at Naomi who was currently flipping a fork up and down. He gave her a stern look and she dropped it.
Gage chuckled and announced he was headed out, waving goodbye he walked out the front door. Taking a deep breath in he walked to the bus stop.
There was sunshine.
