She placed the glass beaker on the table and picked up the eyedropper.

The chemical inside the beaker turned a dark shade of purple. She picked it up and brought it over to a table filled with different types of plants and herbs.
She grabbed a pot that held a shriveled rose inside it.
She poured a small amount in the dirt.
The flower turned black and fell to mushy dust.
"Oh well back to the drawing board"
The door opened.
"Uhm Dr. Janets"
"Yes Charity what is it"
The woman standing there holding a phone in her hand, pulling it away from her ear she placed the other over the speaker.
"You uhm have a call ma'am"
She groaned automatically assuming it was another business junky.
"Can take a message for me I'm a little busy"
Charity took a step forward.
"It's from your husband ma'am, he says it's about your son"
Mara turned to her, she put the beaker on the table and held out her hand.
She took the phone.
"Thank you Charity you may go"
She nodded and left.
Mara put the phone to her ear.
"Hello my dear, please tell me he didn't do something stupid"
An awkward silence from the other end.
"Uh no... but you might want to turn on the news"
Confused she walked over to the television in the corner. She flicked it on and turned to the news.
"Hello Hot wheels city, my name is Jennifer Harper and we are currently rolling live in front of atlas center junior high school, reports indicate that a man with a gun had entered the building and threatened an office receptionist, we are awaiting further information"
A gunshot sounded from inside, her heart pounded.
"Oh my gosh, Tanner did you hear that"
The man behind the camera muttered in confirmation.
A few minutes passed, Mara's eyes never left the screen.
Another gunshot.
Jennifer had turned completely away from the camera, her ponytail swayed in the wind. An officer came up to her, turning back to the camera she smiled.
'Good news, the shooter has been apprehended'
She felt herself relax, and then the adrenaline came back when she saw who the officers were bringing out.
Lester.
Gage.
And Him.
Her hands trembled and her face heated up.
'That little wretch'
She stormed out of the room.
"Charity cancel everything on my schedule I'm going out"
"Yes ma'am, right away ma'am"
She walked over to the mechanicals department and stopped in front of a large glass door.
Lebay
She opened the door and walked in. Looking around she called out.
"John, Johnathan where are you"
A wrench bounced off the top of her head and landed on the ground.
"Ow- fucking hell... JOHN WATCH IT"
A man descended from the ceiling on a wire, he blinked a few times before laughing a bit.
"Oh sorry Tam didn't see you"
She shook her head.
"Pack up we need to go"
He tilted his head.
"Why"
"The school went on lockdown, John"
His eyes went wide.
"WHAT"
He let go of the wire and fell to the ground with a thud.
"Ow... Brandon"
He shot up and grabbed her shirt collar.
"Brandon. Is Brandon alright please tell me he's ok"
She pushed off of her.
"As far as I'm concerned he's fine but we need to leave"
His shoulders sagged.
"I have a meeting today"
She laughed.
"It's ok I'll get Charity to contact your informant"
He let out a breath.
"Thanks... man it must be nice to be the head of a department"
She shook her head.
"When working for Roger anything is a hassle"
He laughed as he grabbed his jacket.
"So why the big rush"
Her face turned grim.
"He's the shooter"
John stiffened.
"Are you sure"
"90% sure, I just need a closer look"
"Shit"
She nodded. John pulled on his jacket and followed her out of the department, she called Charity and got John's meeting rescheduled. Entering the parking center she gestured to her car.
"If we take mine then I can get Naomi"
He gave her a big thumbs up.
"Sounds good"
They got into the car and left.
'First Larry did an unauthorized test on the car, made a team of children and now a lockdown, why is it that all the shit goes down when I'm at work'

Turning into the elementary school she opened the door.
"You wanna come in or watch the car" John undid his seatbelt.
"I'll come in" they stepped out and walked up the big stone steps to the door.
Opening the door they made their way to the office.
"Hello, Naomi Janets please"
The lady behind the desk nodded and picked up the phone.
'Naomi Janets to the office for pick up, Naomi Janets to the office'
It didn't take long for her to get there, she sprinted into the office her small purple bag on her back, tears were rolling down her pale face.
"The teacher had the TV on and the news started playing and I saw Gage and, and, and"
Mara pulled her daughter into a hug, rubbing her back she whispered words of comfort in her ears.
"Its ok sweetie he's perfectly fine. He's perfectly fine"
She nodded wiping some tears away.
"Ok"
