"Hey, Blaze. Aren't you supposed to go home now?"

Blaze ran a hand through his hair and faced hus best friend. "Nope, not really. I'm not going home tonight."

Ice's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Huh? Why not? Your mother must be worried."

The fire elemental let out a dry laugh. "Oh yes, I know she will. But look at my face, Ice. Do I look like I fucking care?"

"You shouldn't say that. She's your mother, and she loves you very much," Ice scolded, frowning.

Blaze snorted. "Oh please, I would pay for that to actually happen."

"What happened, really?"

"The usual," Blaze smirked. "My mother screeched at me to wake up at 9 am. She then forced me to eat breakfast even though I'm moments away from throwing up. Then she forced me to work with house chores since I don't have to be at your house until 11 am. Oh, and she made me pull out some gray stands in her hair because she says it was getting itchy. And she keeps complaining whenever I can't see any more gray hairs. She got angry and irritated at me whenever I'm asking questions. I thought aloud once, and she just yelled at me to shut up."

"And you pissed her off this morning," the ice elemental guessed.

Blaze huffed. "She was asking me some questions, and I was trying to answer them. She got angry at my answers and forbade me to bring my phone when I go out, knowing perfectly that I'll be going home late. I told her that if she takes away my phone, she won't be able to contact me. She wouldn't budge and just told me to be responsible."

"And that set you off?" Ice asked incredulously. "How petty of you."

The fire elemental's expression turned cold. "I guess I couldn't count on you then. You're just like her."

Blaze shook his head. "I'm tired, Ice. I'm tired of everything. I'm tired of being hurt. I'm tired of listening to her screech about how useless and stupid I am. I'm tired of getting pushed around like a ragged doll. I'm tired of trying to be calm. I'm tired of being quiet. I'm tired of trying to change myself. I'm tired of trying to please everyone. I'm tired of hoping to be accepted. I'm just... tired."

He stood up. "I know you only want what's best for me, Ice. But you don't understand. It all just piles up. And there's only one can take before he snaps."

"You can't change my mind now, Ice. I'll see you on the streets."

With that, Blaze walked out of his best friend's house and ran away.
