Tick...Tock..Tick..Tock..Tick..Tick...Tic-

"Alright class, that's all for today. Please don't forget that next week-..." The more he droned on in his wrap up for class, the more my impatience grew. My mind started to wander. Siting here in a classroom. It all felt mundane. The sweet satisfaction of life being sucked out of me every second as I sit here waiting to leave this dim quiet room. My stomach began to growl with urgency as I packed my things. The one of the few things I can't manage to not have daily is a cup of good ol' coffee. Essential for every college student.

My name is Arcadia and I set for my life's mission to be helping others. I'm no one extraordinary. Just a regular young woman who is busting her ass to get into medical school. My adoptive parents were quick to send me off to college and offered to pay it all as I was sent away when they finally got a son of their own. I won't lie. It hurt. Granted, I only entered their lives a few years ago. The sting of their excitement as my adoptive mother was genuinely happy as she held her ultrasound photo in her hand hurt deep. Realizing, I wasn't really their responsibility anymore. They agreed it was best to send me away to have me out of the way. They didn't really say their intentions, but I know actions speak louder than words. I was problematic. I was an orphan with no memories of her past. A child found in the woods alone with no explanation and no family. Alone. That's all I've always known.

Walking across the quad, my train of thought was interrupted by a call to my cell. Damn it. It was Carol. "Hey! Arcadia! I could really use your help with homecoming. I really need.." I let her drone on her plead. One of the mistakes I make is being too nice, sometimes others take advantage of that. People tend to walk all over me. I always find it hard to say no. I couldn't focus on her words. Feeling more exhausted than normal after cramming it last night was catching up to me. My eyelids became heavy and the only thing calling my name was the coffee stand across the street.

SCREEECH!!

In a quick millisecond, my eyes flew open and in that same millisecond I was wrapped by warmth as I crash onto the ground. My ears and head pounding from the impact from hitting the asphalt. A crowd begins to form around me and the last thing I see is the eyes of the stranger who saved me from a painful death. His beautiful ominous gray eyes open wide with concern. "Who are you?" I ask him as the earth spins and turns black.

That was the day that my life would change. I would never be the same Arcadia again.
