POV: Alissa
My anger channeled into that glass globe. That stupid crystal breaking didn't compare to how she was breaking my heart in that very moment. She needs to come home with me. My eyes stung as I tried not to show any tears. Of course, that wouldn't be possible.
Her guard approaches her. In that moment, watching him hold her and touch her. I felt betrayed. In a matter of days, he's earned her trust and attention. She didn't want to leave. She wanted to stay. I spent most of my life trying to keep her away from discovering the truth. She didn't know truly what she was getting into. I stood there, feeling pure chaotic energy course through my body. I could end his life right here right now. Take her with me and we'd pretend all of this never happened. Control yourself.
The anger that bubbled was real, raw emotion begging to reach the surface. The last thing I want to do right now is hurt her.
"Everything's fine. Alissa was just leaving."
The perfect shield I made had crumbled. For the first time, she's insisting I leave. Why doesn't she know I'm trying to help her?! The anger disintegrated, I held whatever next emotion begged to come out.
Calm down. Breathe. "Keep it all Arc. Don't come to me when reality hits and your fantasy isn't what you've chalked it up to be. Have fun." I walked out.
I ran off the estate, creating distance for what felt like eons. Once I was out of sight I had decided to mutter and transportation spell. My energy built to a strong presence. The effect of it's strength caused me to fall onto my knees once I had landed in my hotel room. I had sunk my head into the pillow and released all the hurt. I turned over to see the twin bed across from mine. We were meant to go back. I was meant to make her forget. We were going to move on.
The hurt of betrayal and anger quickly set in after seeing her empty bed. She didn't know what would come from her decisions. I wanted to protect her.
I had ended up deciding to stay. I couldn't leave her here. Half of me was livid with her decision to reject my offer. Half of me wanted to stay, as I knew that I couldn't leave her on her own. That half stayed because of my love for her. That half had won. I spent the next week trying to hatch up a plan to make it right with her. Trying to derail what was meant to happen. She's getting further from me and I can't let that happen.
A week in I had decided to walk to a small pond not far from the village I had lodged at. If I don't talk to him now, he would suspect something was wrong and attempt to send someone else. I had to compose myself with confidence. If he had the slightest clue that she was within Pendragon custody I could lose her. I wouldn't be able to protect her. I reached the edge of the lake and looked down. Muttering the spell in Latin, I brush my hand softly across the surface of the water. Soon my reflection disappeared to show him. Compose yourself.
"Hello Father." I said.
"What is it that you have for me daughter? How close are you?" He said.
"Close father. Everything's going according to what we last discussed." I said with confidence.
"You're running out of time Alissa! We cannot keep waiting. We have won control here, it is now time for you to kill the Pendragon heir and end it once and for all!" he said angrily.
"I understand. I will contact you to share more news later." I said.
"Do not fail me Alissa." He said.
"I won't fail." I told him.
I struck the surface of the water with my fist to immediately sever the connection. Retreating from the lake I had decided that it was best to put up the wall to block out the emotions. I have to come up with a plan to get her back and away from his influence. For the next week I try to run through different possible scenarios. The pressure that I felt was great, it became difficult to sleep and eat. I couldn't fail. It would mean her death if I would.
