I awoke to the sound of chirping birds and the intrusive sunlight peering through the drapes. I groaned, my head was pounding, and my stomach felt sour. The sudden urge to vomit was imminent. I lazily roll over to find a small wastebasket on the side of the bed. After vomiting, my stomach started to settle a bit. I throw a pillow over my face to hide it from the sunlight that was becoming a nuisance.
"Well I can't lie, that was kind of disgusting to watch." A familiar voice said
"UGH!! GET OUT TRISTAN" I yell. I don't need an audience at this moment.
"But who's going to make sure you don't choke on your vomit and –"
"OUT!" I said throwing the pillow in his direction causing him to snicker as he tried to avoid my pillow ambush.
He throws his hands up to surrender. "Okay okay! Let me just leave this here. I've taken the liberty of informing you of your schedule today." He puts a glass of carbonated water at my bedside, I immediately swallow it down.
Rubbing my temples, I try to not let my headache get to me. I'll soldier on, this wasn't at my first bad hangover. Tristan hands me some painkillers and a bottle of water. "Here you go. I probably shouldn't have let you drink so much, but you looked like you were enjoying our time together. Feeling even more responsible for your safety, I brought you to your room while you slept. I stayed in your room to make sure you were okay. I slept on the chaise lounge." He said as my cheeks started to flush. I pulled the covers a bit closer, feeling exposed although I really wasn't.
With no witty comment from me, he stood up and spoke. "Well, we're going to start your training. As current head trainer of the order, I'll be responsible to train you in hand to hand combat. As a result of the recent attack, we can't take any chances. Wear something breathable that allows you to move. Afterwards, we'll head into town to buy you new wardrobe. Anna wants to speak to you around dinner as well." He said
Great, I'm not going to get used to this. To people reporting to me, catering me and so on.
"Thank you" I told him
"Well get up. Time for you to have a traditional English breakfast." He says while smiling. He turns and exits the room. I take my painkillers and hit the shower.
After I change into a new outfit, I meet Tristan downstairs.
Walking into the dining room, I'm greeted by a long dark colored dining table all seats empty apart from the one that Tristan was seated at. He waves over a seat next to him, the tallest chair at the table. Upon sitting he calls one of the kitchen workers who proceeds to bring in two large plates full of food. My stomach which was starting to recover from the copious amounts of drinking from last night began to growl from the hunger. Tristan chuckles as I start to dig in with urgency.
"I'm glad to see you like it" he says
"It's pretty good" I said to him. It was and I haven't finished, but I was already feeling full. "Um-.." he takes and thumb and finger to wipe some of my meal off the corner of my lips.
"Got a bit of blood pudding there." He says smirking a bit at me. My cheeks began to grow really warm. I quickly grab a napkin to cover majority of my face.
"Thanks" I said avoiding his eyes.
"Henry and his team are working on bringing your personal items back here." He told me trying to change the subject.
For the next hour we spoke about our dreams, ambitions and likes and dislikes. Tristan was an interesting character. He liked similar music to me. He knew how to play guitar and he was lover to multiple mediums of art. He's grown accustomed to not having his father around. His mother died at childbirth. He was an only child, he looked up to his own father a lot as kid. I couldn't have imagined how hard it was to leave him at the drop of a dime. He told me about Camelot. How large and vast it was, how harmonious the kingdom became upon my father ascending the throne. He spoke to me about my parents. He told me of my father's greatest battles and achievements. My mother's advocacy to the poor and how many of the kingdom looked up to her. My mother apparently wasn't of noble blood and my own grandfather opposed my father and wanted him to marry a woman of nobility. He went to great lengths to keep them apart. It wasn't until my father rescued my mother from the druids and risked his own life doing so that everyone saw how much he loved her. Eventually my grandfather, Uther accepted and granted the marriage. He stepped down allowing my father to ascend, there was a grand coronation for both. Neighboring kings and queen had attended wishing my parents great fortune and a long healthy reign for Camelot.
