Raindrops lightly tapped on the glass of the window. Individually they paved a path to stream down and reach the sill. Funny how a small bit of nature finds its way with such ease. Yet, I sit here and all I can think about is my conversation with Anna.
"It's time for you to return home to Camelot"
What I'd give to know what I have to do, to know my path like that raindrop. Without ease and without struggle. Leave this place? It's all too fast. All my years of education and building my independence gone. I'm forced to fit this role. IN THE PAST.
I'm plagued with my fear the unknown. Trying to fit all this information, like puzzle pieces. I can't see the bigger picture here and I don't like it. My train of thought suddenly interrupted by a knock at the door. Tristan walks in.
"You'll get used to the English weather. It's not like America, rain is too common here." He said cracking a small smile.
Smiling back at him, my response felt natural.
"I guess you're right. It's just it's a lot that's expected of me. It feels like weight of the world fit on my shoulders." I said, fidgeting with my sleeves.
"Imagine the weight of the crown" he says jokingly.
"You're not helping" I said
I roll my eyes, my response making him chuckle. His smile revealing his gleaming white teeth. Looking away, I've noticed the effect he had on me. His presence put me at ease, distracting me from the inner conflict going on in my mind.
He meets me in front of the window and looks at me meeting my eyes.
"Then let me." He says.
No response, I didn't understand his motive. My chest began to feel tight.
"Let me take you somewhere, you've never been to the UK right? Let me show you what you've missed out on."
Like a date? Should I ask? No.. what if it's not?
It wasn't until he smiled again that I realized the warmness radiating off my face.
"Y-Yeah I'd like that. Why not? Sounds fun." I said to him.
Keep Cool Arcadia. Keep Cool.
He winked at me. "I'll even let you drive. Come on!" he said while exiting the room.
Wait.... Don't they drive on the opposite side of the road here?
"Wait up!" I yelled while trying to follow him.
It wasn't until the I look an absolute mess. I see him at the foot of the stairs looking back at me with biggest smile plastered on his face. "Let's go" he said.
We run outside into the car; he opens the door for me while keeping the umbrella overhead to shield me from the rain.
It wasn't until I sat down that I realized I've been set up. Thinking I've sat into the passenger seat, I realize I was indeed on the drivers in this scenario. Tristan enters into the car and laughs.
"Alright Princess, let's see what you got." he says with a devious grin.
Tristan will be the death of me, because I realized something I haven't with anyone else. My guard was down without my knowing.
