Falling for the Duke Boy (Luke Duke)

Chapter 7

*Luke P.O.V.*

"Wow. I knew what he did, but I am so proud of you for releasing all of that emotion," Daisy said when she came back stage. "That was amazing, Allie," I said hugging her. "Now it is time to vote. When I say the name of the contestant, the one that has the most noise made for her wins this debacle," Uncle Jessie said. Each of the girls went back to the stage. First was Bianca, the cheers were loud for her. Then it was Allie's turn the cheers for her were even louder. "That settles it. Allie congratulations you have won," he said to her. Afterwards we stayed to help clean up and then hung out with Cooter and Allie at their house. "I've never heard the song you sang before today," Bo said. "I would hope not," she said. "She wrote that song when the incident happened," Cooter said. "From what I understood something happened between you and your ex," Bo said. "I told him I wasn't ready yet. And he didn't like that so he cheated on me with my best friend at the time, who was ready," she explained. "Ready for what," Bo asked. She gave him the most angry glare I'd seen then spoke. "To loose my virginity to him," she said. Bo then went quiet for a while and I noticed it was starting to get dark so I suggested that we call it a night. "Party pooper," Bo said. "Bo we got a big day tomorrow. We have lots of errands to run for Uncle Jessie tomorrow," I said.

*Allie P.O.V.*

The next morning it was finals day at school so when testing was over I had to go to work. "Ahh. Allie. School finally over with," Jim asked. "Yup. So that means you got me for the summer," I said clocking in. I went to the locker room and got changed into my swim suit then took my position on the Guard tower. "Shift change James," I said from below. "Allie! Good to see you working again this summer," he said climbing down. I climbed up on the tower and began to tan while keeping an eye on the swimmers. A couple of hours had passed and I heard some whistles coming from outside the fence. "Hi boys," I said seeing it was Bo and Luke. "Hey Allie," they said. "Did you come to gawk or to swim," I asked. "We came to say hey. Well we better get going Bo. Uncle Jessie has got some work for us back on the farm," Luke said dragging Bo away. "Bye boys," I said.

"Hey Allie. Shift change," Hayley said. "Alright," I said climbing down. "Hey great job the other day. Did you write that," she asked. "Yeah," I said. "Oh! Jim wants to talk to you before you go," she said climbing up. I walked into the office to find Jim and sat down across from him. "Allie. We've lost an employee, unfortunately. And I wanted to ask you first. Do you want some extra hours," he asked. "How many extra are we talkin'," I asked. "Right now you are getting around 20 hours a week. I would give you 10 extra hours a week plus a pay raise, because you are due for one," he said. "I'll compromise. 25 hours a week plus the raise. I already have some things I'm doing this summer and can only spare five extra hours a week," I said. "You can give the other five hours to someone else who needs them," I said. "And that's why everyone loves working with you," he said letting me go change and head home.

When I got home I found Luke on the porch. "Hey. Luke is something wrong," I asked. "Can we walk and talk," he asked. "Sure. Yeah," I said. We started to walk and he talked. "I know that you said you weren't ready for a new relationship, but I really like you and this, this connection we have, it feels right," he said. "Luke. I feel the same way, but I don't want to get hurt again," I said. "And I promise that I will never hurt you," he said stepping in front of me. "Luke I don't know. Wade really hurt me," I said. "And I'm not Wade. I'm a Duke," he said grabbing my hands. I looked up at him for a moment not speaking. "We don't even have to put a label on it until you're ready. We'll just go on a few dates and see where it goes from there," he said. "Ok one date then we'll go from there, on one condition," I said. "Ok," he said. "We go somewhere private for the date," I said. "Alright how does 7 o'clock sound," he said. "Sounds good and I'll drive since I know the town better," I said.

A few days later

I finished the morning shift at work then went home and showered before getting dressed to go on my date with Luke. I picked out a flowy blue blouse, jeans, boots, and a leather jacket. I sat down at my vanity and blow dried my hair. I put on some light make up and as I was finishing up Cooter knocked on the door. "Hey sis. Luke's outside," he said. "Ok. I'll be down in a minute," I said. I spritzed myself with some perfume before standing up and headed downstairs. "Bye mom, bye dad, bye Cooter. I'll be back later," I called as I headed outside. "Wow. You look.. stunning," Luke said. "Thanks. Bo let you borrow the General," I said. "Yup. The keys mi'lady," he said holding up the keys.

I took the keys and climbed in through the driver window and started the car. "Bo just asks that we be careful," Luke said climbing in. "Aren't I always," I said pulling off. I drove for about ten minutes and I came to a stop near the Hazzard line. I climbed out after turning off the car and Luke followed. "This is my favorite spot in all of Hazzard," I said leading him through the thick trees and to a clearing. "This place is beautiful, but not as beautiful as you," Luke said. "Any time I'm feeling down, I come here. You're the only person besides me that knows about this place," I said. Pulling my stash of blanket and other items from their hiding spot.

I laid out the blanket and we took a seat. We sat and talked about random things and looked at the stars together. "So is Cooter and your parents your only family," he asked. "No. I got a couple of cousins and an uncle not far from here, over in Bluebell, Alabama," I said. We talked for a bit longer until it started to get chilly and we decided that we should head back. Luke drove me home and he walked me to the porch. "I had a nice time tonight Luke," I said. "Me too. I hope we can do it again soon," he said. "Maybe we will. I'll catch you later," I said giving him a quick hug then going inside.
