Shaking Things Up...
Chapter Twelve.
(Dedicated to MaBielOnFire12- thanks for all your comments. People like you are my rock! <3)
"You ready?" France asks. I take a deep breath in a say my last prayer up to god. Please God, make me look at least a little presentable.
"Yeah, ready." I mutter. She takes her hands off my eyes and I look in the mirror.
"Gosh, I look like a pretty girl." I mumble to myself and look away from the mirror. It's not like I look ugly or anything, it's just so...girly.
"Come on, Dee. This is why we are going shopping. We can jazz it up a bit." Kayleigh says.
"Okay." I mumble. Both Kayleigh and Sapphire are in different chairs, getting their hair done. And guess what? They're both getting blonde highlights. My first response to this was 'Oh crap, they're gonna look like my bitches' but they actually look really pretty. I tell them this and they smile.
"Thanks." They chorus.
After our hair is done we head out into the centre of the mall.
"Hey, I've just had the best idea." I tell them and they look at me curiously.
"What?"
"Why don't I have a party tonight?" I ask and both their eyes light up in delight.
"But it's Sunday." Kayleigh moans.
"Yeah, but we're off on monday. Some school thing that I can't remember." Sapphire answers. I swear, she's so close to happy dancing. Wait, that's news to me because if she hadn't told me, I would be standing at the gates wondering where everybody was.
"We've got to get going, girls. Dee, get your phone at the ready." Sapphire tells me. I take out my Iphone as we sit down in the coffee shop.
"Won't you have more contacts?" I ask and they shake their heads.
"Dude, you got more phone numbers on your first day here than we got since grade one." Sapphire laughs. It saddens me that other people don't get to enjoy Sapphire and Kayleigh's friendship as much as I do.
"Okay, who should I start with?" I scroll down my contacts and find that I've got about three hundred of them.
"Prescott, he's king of the school, tell him to spread it 'bout." Sapphire answers and I nod, then click on Prescott.
Hey, where did you go yesterday? Do you know how much of a fool I looked like to my parents, sitting in the yard half naked? Anyways, party at mine tonight, spread it around.
Kayleigh goes to get the coffee while I wait for a text back. He texts back two minutes later.
Sorry, it would hurt my pride if your parents had caught me there. Yeah, I'm game. I'll tell everybody I know.
Thats it. I nod and put my cell in my pocket.
"What'd he say?" Sapphire asks.
"That he's game and he's gonna tell everybody." I tell her and she nods. Kayleigh comes back a few minutes later with our hot chocolates. Hey, I don't like coffee all that much. And, we are still kids. Hot choco doesn't harm.
"Hey sorry it took me so long." She sighs sitting down.
"You were only there two minutes," I tell her and she sighs.
"Felt like a year."
"Why?"
"That guy was hittin' on me." We turn to see a cute guy at the desk.
"Cute."
"Yeah, but he's arrogant. Tried to feel me up." She mutters.
"Boys..." We all sigh at the same time, making us all laugh.
"Alright girlie's. Enough chit chat, we have some serious shopping to do if Dee wants to max out her parents credit card." Sapphire says,, standing up. I pull her back down.
"I don't want to max it out, they'd kill me. I just want to put a small dent in it."
_-_-_-_
"Dent my ass." Sapphire hisses as we try to fit all our bags in my car. Ferrari's are not made for space.
"Do you know how much you spent?" She hisses again as her fingers get stuck in between the bags.
"No but don't tell me." I tell her, trying to squeeze it all in.
"Forty thousand dollars!"
"Huh, not as much as I thought it would be." I sigh desperately and let the bags fall to the ground.
"What?!"
"Trust me, that's a really small dent in her card. She probably won't think anything of it. I was planning to spend more, but whatever." I tell her and her jaw drops.
"How much money do you have?" She gasps.
"Let's just say that our house is downgrading." I tell her.
"No, I want figures." She answers stubbornly.
"Look, I don't know how much is in theirs all I know is what's in my trust fund that I get next year." I tell her.
"How much?"
"5.2 million."
"Oh gosh." She whispers.
"Don't worry I'm not going to spend it all in the one shop." I chuckle.
"Then what are you going to do with that kind of money?" She asks, mouth still agape.
"College, but then I'm gonna take a year out, travel the world. Go to Africa and help the poor." I tell her. Hey, I may be a bitch but I can still be nice.
"That still leaves you with a whole lot of money." She answers.
"Yeah I know. I'm gonna try and get one of my books published and see where it goes from there." I tell her.
"You- you write?"
"Yeah, you can read some if you like- after we get all this stuff home." I tell her while picking up some stuff and stuffing it in the car.
"You write." she mumbles.
What I don't tell her about my writing is that I've already got a book published and a lot of people want to buy my next one. But I'll leave that until another time. Best not give her a heart attack.
