A Broken Soul

Chapter Twenty

Ashton's POV

"What?" I asked in shock.

"The baby is coming." she said gritting her teeth.

I quickly took her hand and helped her to stand up. She gasped and clutched her stomach as the contractions started.

"Are you going to be able to walk?" I asked her.

She nodded at me as she bit her lip. I could tell from the frown on her face that she was in a lot of pain. She wasn't the type to make a fuss.

I quickly helped her out to the car and held her hand as she climbed in. I rushed around to the other side and quickly climbed in the car. I accelerated so fast that the tyres squealed.

I drove very fast. I knew that I needed to get her to the hospital as soon as possible.

"Ashton it hurts." she squeaked.

"I know baby, we'll be there soon." I told her.

She gasped and I heard her breathing increase. I quickly reached over and took her hand. She squeezed my hand so tightly that it began to hurt.

A few moments later we reached the hospital. As soon as the nurses saw what was happening, they quickly guided Laura to a bed.

As Laura sat on the bed I sat beside her and held her hand, trying to give her some comfort.

I could tell that the contractions were becoming more and more frequent. Tears were rolling down her cheeks as the pain became more intense.

"Okay, you are fully dilated, so now I need you to push." the midwife said happily.

I watched Laura closely as she began to push when the midwife told her too. I felt a new sense of admiration for her.

"You're amazing." I told her.

She smiled at me slighlty and continued pushing.

Suddenly she sagged against the bed. I gasped as I heard a baby cry.

"It's a girl." the midwife said as she handed the baby to Laura.

I sniffed slightly, causing Laura to glance at me and smile. I perched on the bed beside her and wrapped my arm around her shoulders. I gently stroked the baby's cheek with my other hand.

"My girls." I whispered.

Laura smiled at me and rested her head on my shoulder sleepily.
