"THAT'S RIGHT! RUN 5 MILES WINTER!" Yelled my and Winter's PE teacher.
Winter looked down. "Just because I disagreed with something you said doesnt mean I should have to run 5 miles."
Our teacher's face turned evil, her green eyes with a slightly dark glaze over them. This is why people think of green-eyed people as villians.
"Well, you are. Unless you want to fail the class."
Winter looked at me for help. She expected me to shine my brown eyes at the teacher. And honestly, I was tempted to. My weakness almost gave in. But I couldn't. I just....couldn't.
"Just go, Winter." I told her. "It's not worth your grade. But I'll help you."
"Good luck with that!" The teacher scoffed. I had to close my eyes to stop myself from being exposed.
"Thank you." I said coldly, and ran along side Winter.
By the first mile, she was done. It was extremely sunny and hot out. She was panting super hard.
The teacher smirked. "Done, are we?"
"NO!" I shouted, and picked Winter up. "I have a plan, just believe me." I dragged her forward.
"Shine your brown eyes Winter. Thats what I've been doing this whole time, see?"
I showed her my eyes.
"Just shine them. You wont feel anything. You'll be overtaken with power."
"I....I dont know how!" She cried helplessly.
"OPEN THEM!" I shouted, leaving the whole class staring at us weirdly. I didn't care.
"Oh, really? I had no idea!" She sarcastically shouted. "I've been running with my eyes closed this whole time!"
One look from me caused her to stop.
"Try." I whispered. "They cant see us from here. Just try, Winter. Please try. I cant let you be taken advantage of like this."
She tried. I could tell how much she truly tried. But she didn't have enough control yet. She'd been blue eyed for so long. This would take a while.
"Okay." I said painstakingly. "If you can't shine your eyes....I have a new plan. It was be painful...very painful....but you can do it. It'll teach that woman a lesson. And I'll be right here beside you the whole time."
"...okay..." She worriedly told me.
"Run." Was all I said.
"Sandra, I c-"
"RUN!" I shined my eyes at her. She ran.
"I just...I can't..." She told me, after a mile and a half.
"Not in the shade you can't. Get in the sun."
"Sandra!"
"THE SUN!"
She obeyed, sighing.
"Now, run as fast as you possibly can." I told her. "Run faster!"
She was about to collapse.
Which was the plan.
"Okay. Stop." I told her.
It didn't take my eyes to make her follow that command.
"Now listen. You are going to run as far as you can. When you feel like stopping, don't stop. Just run. In the sun. With me right beside you. No water. No comfort. No nothing. Be tough. If you learn how to shine your eyes, that'll be a big help. But until then, just run. Until you honestly CANNOT. And I dont mean get too tired or whatever, I mean CANNOT. As in, you collapse. Trust me."
She looked at me as if I was crazy. "I'LL DIE!" She screamed. I smiled.
"No you wont. You have brown eyes. Even if you dont know how to show them. They're there. Nothing can kill a brown eyed person, but a specific type of poison."
As soon as I said this, I had a strange feeling. As if something crawled up my back. I had a picture of Azalya in my mind. Now was not the time to worry about her. I brushed it away.
Idiot.
Anyway. Winter ran. She ran and ran. After 3 miles, she complained, "My throat hurts badly!"
"Keep running."
"I have a splitting headache."
"So will our teacher, when she sees the outcome. Keep running."
By 3 and a half miles, she was smiling. But it was a smile of almost, insanity.
Yes, it's working.
"Sandra....it's getting easier."
"I know."
4 miles. She kept mumbling about unicorns flying and other stuff that didnt make sense.
Her head kept turning back and forth. "Sandra, I feel like Im dreaming..." She said in a drunk-sounding voice.
"I know."
At the line before the 5th mile.
"Sandra, I did it. I ran the whole time....bunnies are....you're.....Sandra you're fluffy..."
"I know."
5 miles.
"Sandra, I'm dying."
She dropped to the ground, as I sighed.
"I know."
