A Cognate's Love (Sophitz)

Chapter 15 | Just us

Sophie woke up to the coolness of the sofa ,she shifted around until she found something warm and pushed herself into it.

She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and yawned ,she opened her eyes realizing how close her and Fitz were made her blush.

She reached for the nearest blanket that was kicked to the floor and threw it over the two of them. She closed her eyes again trying to get as much sleep as possible.

Fitz shifted and adjusted to Sophie's position,he wrapped his arms around her and played with her hair.

"Good morning," Fitz whispered finally opening his eyes and looking around them ,Dex and Keefe were still asleep ,snoring.

"Hi," Sophie said opening her eyes and looking up at Fitz ,she smiled and scrunched her nose at him.

"Come on lets go see if Edaline and Grady are up." Fitz said sitting up and offering Sophie a hand. She took it and they walked into the kitchen to find Grady scribbling down something on a parchment paper as Edaline placed a delicious plate of Mallowmelt in front of him.

"Good Morning!" Edaline said in a cheerful tone ,but even this didn't hide the dark bags under her eyes.

"Morning Mom." Sophie said stuffing her face in Mallowmelt.

"Gosh ,you two are like magnets." Edaline sighed putting her hands on her hips.

Grady just grumbled something and Sophie and Fitz pretended not to hear Edaline.

Nobody really said anything after that and they continued eating ,occasionally Edaline would ask about the new device and they would simply answer with yes and no.

After finishing their breakfast they headed back into the living room hoping to find Keefe and Dex awake.

They both walked in and looked on the floor ,Dex and Keefe were laying back to back both sound asleep and still snoring.

"If they knew that they did this..." Sophie grinned ,but Fitz was already ahead of her ,he ran up stairs quietly and fished for Sophie's memory log. Sooner or later he came running back in the living room handing her the book.

She took a good look at the two boys before focusing on the empty page. The image was as clear and accurate as a picture.

They both crept back out of the room gushing with giddiness.

They walked outside with the intention of visiting Calla but when Sandor lept infront of them signaling them to stop it started a whole new plan.

"Sandor? What is it?" Fitz asked as Sandor looked around the yard.

"I smell something...ash" Sandor said moving around ,Grizel appeared out of the shadows placing her hands on both their shoulders.

Once Sophie had connected the dots worry flooded her mind ,is everyone okay? But she didn't have time for questions ,she had to find her friends and family before it was too late. She ran inside and to the kitchen. She looked everywhere around the house for them but couldn't find them. She heard Fitz calling her name but she ignored him and continued to look.

She ran outside past Fitz and Grizel chased her while Fitz followed slightly behind her.

"Sophie? What is it?!" He asked catching up to her ,she was in the middle of the pastures when she sunk to her knees and began crying. She cried and cried until Fitz sat down beside her ,he rubbed small circles on her back just like Edaline.

"Soph...You have to tell me what's wrong." Fitz said ,Sophie slowed down her crying.

"Edaline and Grady." She said looking up at him with stained cheeks and puffy eyes.

"They're fine ,I made sure with Cadoc," Brizel chirped in.

"What is going on?" Fitz asked and Sophie looked at Grizel while she explained.

"Once Sandor smelt the ash ,Cadoc brought Edaline and Grady to Eternalia ,along with Dex and Keefe."

Sophie sighed relieved ,She spent her whole life knowing many things ,and still fearing the unknown .

"We need to go to Eternalia." Sophie said standing up ,she wiped her face as she took Grizel's hand ,and Fitz intertwined his fingers with hers as Grizel held up the crystal to the sun.

The light carried them away and they leaped right infront of the 12 gorgeous towers that towered over the city. They were beautiful as always and stood out ,they flowed in the sun making them seem so elegant.

They walked down to the far left towers ,Kenric's old tower that Sophie swore she would never refer as "Counciller Alina's tower" always made Sophie sad but beside that was Oralie's tower that seemed to somehow glow brighter than the others.

They knocked and Sophie counted 25 seconds before she heard the locks click and the knob turn.Cadoc opened the door as they stepped in and Sophie looked around ,the tower was a elegant pink that screamed Oralie. All around were pink armchairs ,rugs and ,sofas.

"Sophie! Fitz!" She heard someone sigh from across the room. They looked over to see Oralie who looked as beautiful as always.

Oof ,8 days since my last update! I'm so so sorry I'm having some major writers block. I had all these amazing ideas but now I'm just sorta making it up as I go.

I'm not going to discontinue this story because I will regret that and I want to finish it ,but keep in mind we only have maybe 5-8 more chapters which is super excited and very scary at the same time.

Anywho thank you all with dealing with my tardiness I'll try and post more often. <3
