Chapter 21 | A Cognate's Love

2 months had passed since the day Biana and Alden were rescued ,everything seemed normal and everything was working out fine. The Collective was up and running again and back to their mysterious selves. Tam and Linh finally came out of their faze ,but everyone could tell Tam was mostly back for Biana.

Life was great ,the Neverseen hadn't acted much since the rescue ,which was worrying everyone but they were all also relieved to have a break.

Sophie and Fitz were better then ever and they had been training to become cognates harder than ever. Not only were they practicing that but Sophie had made a promise to herself to help Fitz as much as she could ,which meant helping him control his anger.

Sophie knew that everyone has quirks and nobody's perfect ,but Fitz was a fragile person with a problem that Sophie would never leave him to face on his own. He had gotten better at controlling it than he was when he was younger and it was never going to go away but she still needed to help him ,plus he was her boyfriend ,which meant that his problems were her problems.

"So have the Collective found out anything about the Neverseen?" Fitz asked after cognate training.

"No ,but I'm sure once they do we'll be the first to know," She smiled at him.

"I don't know how you do it." He sighed brushing a hand through his hair.

"Do what?" She asked him.

"Staying so positive," He said laying back on the grassy field they were training in.

"I wish I could tell you but I don't even know," She said shaking her head and laying down next to him.

They laid there for a little just watching the bright blue skies turn to a pale yellow and pink. Neither of them said anything as they let the world around them dissolve.

"Hey Soph," Fitz said turning his head to look at her.

"Mhm," She replied looking over at him.

"You wanna know what I think is gonna happen," He smiled at her ,"with us and everyone else,"

"What?" She whispered turning her body to face him.

"I think that ,maybe ,one day ,this will all be over and we can finally be happy together ,and that we can do things that we've always dreamed of ,and that our friends and family will be happy and we'll all get old and laugh about all the stupid things we didn't as kids." He smiled softly at her.

Sophie's eyes began to water ,what Fitz described was a perfect life and a perfect world that Sophie could only dream of having. "Yeah I hope so," she said brushing a hand through his brown locks.

"Sophie I wanted to tell you something-" Fitz began to say but Sophie interrupted him by softly kissing him.

"I love you," She whispered as her hair fanned around her face.

"I love you too," Fitz said kissing her gently on the lips while cupping her face in his hands.

"What were you going to say?" Sophie asked blushing and feeling bad for interrupting him.

"Nothing," He replied grinning from ear to ear and shaking his head.

Imagine making a huge puzzle ,and just as you are about to finish you realize you are missing two pieces ,so you look in the box and find them. Before putting them in you attach them together and finish the puzzle with the two pieces connected. That's what happened with Sophie and Fitz ,even if they didn't know it at first ,they were the final peice and that the world around them was a puzzle that they had solved together. Sophie and Fitz has something special ,love ,a Cognate's Love...

I'm so sorry if you guys had expected this to be a long final chapter but I didn't have much more to say and I wanted that final scene to have it's own little chapter.

This was very difficult for me because I recently became a Sokeefe shipper :0 and I didn't want to discontinue because I would hate myself for that.
