Chapter 1: New Beginnings

I heard the bedroom door open and Jisu walking down the hall before coming to the end of it and stretching, followed by a yawn. She was dressed in a simple T-Shirt and underwear as she walked over to me.
"How can you sleep in that?" I asked, my voice unusually deeper. It was always a bit deeper in the mornings, I had woken up at least 30 minutes before her. Jisu looked down at her clothing style and shrugged, "How have you woken up before me?" I responded with a shrug as well.

Jisu smiled and shook her head before looking at me and kissing me. She hadn't really gotten much taller, and it was something she didn't really appreciate.

I passed her a glass, "Here, go ahead and drink if you want, it's coffee."

Jisu hesitated before taking a tiny sip, "T-this isn't coffee, this is hot chocolate!"

"I know. I noticed how you barley drank the coffee I gave you yesterday and decided to let you drink something else, it's winter after all." I explained, drinking the last bit of my coffee.

"T-thank you." She replied.

I looked at my phone and washed my glass, "Well, I gotta go." I went to the door.

"Where are you going?"

"I have to go get supplies for the base, I'll be back in a-"

"I want to go!" Jisu said, running into the bedroom and coming out a few minutes later in better clothing. She looked at me and caught me staring.
"W-what are you looking at?"

I shook my head, "N-nothing...let's go."

The guards let us out of the base and we began walking down the road toward a store a few miles away.
"So, what are you gonna do for Christmas? It's in a couple of days." Jisu said.

"Well...I really don't have anything planned." I replied.

"Not even gifts?"

"I have those planned, don't worry. Why? Were you hoping to get something from me?" I asked.

"Sort of..."

I picked her up and put her on my shoulders, "This is the first thing."
"It isn't very much..."

"Alright, then I won't get you anything else." I smirked.

"I-I'm sorry!" Jisu replied, "Oh! Lemme down real quick!"

I set her down and she stared at me, "This...might not sound like me but...why haven't you teased me as much? It's unlike you."

"Tease? I decided to quit doing that because it was a habit I want to lose. Why, you want me to tease you?" I asked.

"N-no. I was just wondering since you would've teased me a lot by now."

"Sorry, again, I want to lose the habit."

We came to a park and heard commands. Jisu was confused, "Oh. I forgot to tell you, Mari trains people now, she got out here a little while before we left."

"Let's go see her!" Jisu exclaimed.

We walked in the general direction and when Jisu saw her she yelled her name. Mari gave one last command and the group sat down. We hurried over to her and she came out of the fenced in area and hugged us both. While Jisu wasn't looking, Mari rose up and kissed me on the cheek, followed by her finger going to her mouth telling me to keep quiet. I tried to hide potential embarrassment.
"How's the group acting?" I finally said.

"Well, everyone's cooperating and followimg what I'm doing, do you wanna teach for a while?" Mari replied.

"I can't teach right now, I have to get some supplies. Maybe tomorrow." I said.
