Izzy's Alola Journey

Hello, Roto, Im the Rotom Pokedex, Roto!

Team Forest lands at an airport in the Alola region. They recall when Tucker showed them several images of Pokémon exclusive to the region, back at the Team Forest HQ. As Tucker spoke, Zigzagoon vows to replace Linoone as the boss' favorite Pokémon. Tucker instructs the trio to go to Alola and capture Pokémon he has not seen before. At Professor Sequoia's house, he hands the Pokédex to Izzy. They head into Sequoia's laboratory. After pressing some buttons on his computer, the lights in the lab start to flicker. Izzy wonders what is going on as Professor Sequoia tells her to wait and see. A Rotom comes out of a wall socket and starts to venture around the lab. After a while, Rotom charges into the Pokédex, activating it. Rotom scans the area and detects Izzy. After greeting the Rotom, Izzy becomes surprised that it replied. Professor Sequoia requests Rotom to help Izzy on her journey. Rotom Pokédex understands and begins to boot up, telling Izzy that it is equipped with an assortment of languages to communicate with people. Despite this, it doesn't understand Izzy's use of the word "awesome", but Professor Sequoia soon explains what it means. Professor Sequoia introduces himself and explains that Izzy and Sylveon are staying at his place. Izzy also introduces her Sylveon to Rotom. Rotom takes pictures of Sylveon and Eevee and explains that it has a self-learning capability, which Izzy does not fully understand. The Pokédex introduces its full name to Izzy, which Izzy becomes confused with the name. Rotom asks Izzy to simply called it Rotom, and Izzy tells it to call her by "Izzy". Izzy asks Rotom Pokédex to provide information on Sylveon, which it does, and pulls on Sylveon's feeler to test it. This results in Sylveon using Fairy wind to shock everyone. In a forest, Hariyama is walking about and hears the bushes rustle as a Skuntank emerges. Hariyama looks at Skuntank before moving on.

Fennekin passes by the Pokémon Academy and watches Snorlax sleeping on a log before moving on. In the classroom, Izzy introduces Rotom Pokédex to her classmates and they introduce themselves. Sun is amazed to see a Pokédex with a Rotom inside, whilst Athens wants to dismantle Rotom to examine its programming, which Rotom quickly refuses. When Drew Wall arrives with Professor Sequoia, Izzy introduces Rotom to the principal of the school. Rotom becomes confused by Drew's greetings. Uma explains that he is saying hello, and that he likes to use Pokémon puns when talking. Rotom Pokédex soon understands and begins making a few puns of its own. Professor Sequoia starts the lesson by saying that it will be about field work, and suggests to Izzy that now that she has her Pokédex, she should catch a wild Pokémon, which leaves everyone excited. Professor Sequoia says it should be a new challenge for Izzy and she will Destiny Bond them to help him out. Rotom starts to describe Destiny Bond's effect, and reassures that they could count on it for information on Pokémon. The group heads out into the forest.

In the forest, Team Forest is exploring and plan to catch the first Pokémon they see, but as they left Liepard and Natu back at the headquarters, it will be up to Zigzagoon and Slowpoke to battle Pokémon. Looking around the forest, Vila finds it creepy and that a ghost may appear out of nowhere. Upon finishing her sentence, the grass starts to rustle and a Pokémon jumps out of it. Team Forest starts to scream until a Skuntank lands on the ground. They mistake it for Sylveon and becomes scared when its costume falls down slightly, but Zigzagoon spots that it isn't actually a Sylveon. Hearing Skuntank's laughter, it creeps Zigzagoon and Slowpoke out. Vance asks what Skuntank is saying, but he refuses to translate it as he thinks it is too scary. Vila says it actually looks kind of cute and decides to catch it, throwing Zigzagoon at it. As Zigzagoon gets closer, he uses Fury Swipes but it has no effect on the Skuntank. Zigzagoon becomes afraid of what Skuntank is saying and orders it to take off its Sylveon get-up. Zigzagoon looks under its rag and promptly faints. Zigzagoon finds himself walking in a long tunnel and wonders where he is before spotting a light in the distance. He runs towards it and sees a Gardevoir, Lopunny, and Glaceon which he begins to chase after them, having fallen in love with them, unaware that they are illusions caused by a Gastly, Haunter and Gengar. Meanwhile, Vila and Vance are trying to wake Zigzagoon up. In Zigzagoon's trance, the Pokémon all disappear and he starts to fall below. Vila and Vance throw buckets of water on Zigzagoon, waking him up. He thanks them for bringing him back and explains what happened. They all look at Skuntank in anxiety and run away when a nearby bush rustle. Izzy and his classmates are walking into the forest, becoming increasingly excited on encountering a Pokémon in the forest.

Team Forest notices them and their Pokémon and decides to use the opportunity to capture all their Pokémon, along with the Pokémon they will be capturing in the region. The group of students spot Skuntank, but when Skuntank sees Sylveon, it makes it unhappy. Sun recognizes it as being a Skuntank from a book that she read, but Rotom interrupts her to provide information. Zigzagoon overhears the information about a scholar who looked under a Skuntank's rag passing away and realizes how lucky he was, as Vance notices the Pokédex moving by itself. Izzy decides to try and catch Skuntank and has Sylveon use Iron Tail which hits, but Saburo is surprised that it does no damage. Skuntank strikes back with Play Rough before attacking with Shadow Claw. Seeing how strong Skuntank is, Izzy orders an Echoed Voice. Skuntank reflects the attack back to Sylveon with its tail, although Sylveon manages to dodge it. Vila is impressed by Skuntank's strength and decides to catch it, much to Zigzagoon's horror. As Izzy prepares to order Sylveon to attack, Team Forest reveals themselves and recite their motto, which Rotom Pokédex takes their organization's name literally. Rotom becomes surprised to see a talking Zigzagoon and starts taking pictures of him. None of Izzy's classmates have heard of Team Forest, but Izzy explains that they are bad guys who steal Pokémon. Team Forest exclaims that they did not know why Izzy is in Alola, but they intend to take all of their Pokémon along with Skuntank. With few Pokémon to use, Zigzagoon goes to battle Sylveon with Fury Swipes as Sylveon attacks with Echoed Voice. As the Echoed Voive is about to hit, it is deflected by Skuntank's Shadow Ball, saving Zigzagoon from being hit. Vila realizes that Skuntank is helping them out, but this isn't the case as Zigzagoon explains that Skuntank has a deep hatred towards Sylveon. Vila allows Skuntank to attack and it begins to launch another Shadow Ball. Vila and Vance are ecstatic about what is going on, however, the Hariyama appears behind Vila and Vance and carries them away. Rotom Pokédex informs Izzy of what Hariyama is, and Izzy remembers encountering it before. Zigzagoon tells Skuntank to stop Hariyama and help save Vila and Vanve, which Skuntank reluctantly does, and they chase after them. Izzy is disappointed at not catching Skuntank, but Sun says there are lots of Pokémon around. Izzy and her classmates set off to find more Pokémon in the forest.
