His eyes were like glowing pools of amber, and far too close to my face. I stumbled backwards a few steps before regaining my balance.
"Seriously, you're massive!" I swallowed hard.
He's bigger than me. Crap. I don't think I can take him.
Jimin's fox form was much, much larger than I had anticipated. I assumed he'd just be closer to the size of an actual wolf, not the size of a horse.
I couldn't help but regret calling him 'little.' My own hybrid form was on the smaller side. It was pretty standard for hybrids to be larger than their animal counterparts, but I was roughly the same size. If need be, I could pass as an actual wolf.
The giant fox who had been staring me down suddenly cocked his head to the side as if confused. Cute!
"So, are you going to wait here for me to change?" I asked and took a step toward the tent.
The fox dipped his head once and sat back on his haunches. Amber eyes peered down at me expectantly.
"Okay." I slipped inside the tent and took a few deep breaths. My mind was racing as I took off my shoes and set them to the side, next to Jimin and Jungkook's shoes.
The interior of the tent was rustic to say the least. There were two cots, one on either side of the entrance, and the floor was a large sheet of canvas. The lantern hung from a hook that was tied with rope to the pole that ran the length of tent, forming the roof line. Along the back wall of the tent was another rope strung from the poles that formed the tops of the walls. The rope had several wire hangers and Jimin and Jungkook's clothes were hanging there. At the foot of each cot were plastic storage tubs. I let my curiosity get the better of me, and peaked inside only to find blankets and pillows.
A soft whine from just outside the tent let me know I had stalled too long. Jimin was growing impatient.
"It's been two years. Just let me go at my own pace." I muttered.
A loud huff rustled the leaves and sticks outside the tent.
I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. I made my way to the back of the tent and slipped out of the hoodie Jungkook had let me borrow before placing it on an empty hanger.
I met these guys on a Sunday, and I'm getting naked with them on Tuesday. How did my life come to this?
I shed the rest of my clothes and hung them up.
Rolling my shoulders as I paced back and forth between the two cots, I tried to concentrate on my wolf side.
My vision started to blur as white hot pain began to overtake my body. My bones shifted, changing shape, and my muscles expanded and contracted into their new positions. Slowly, I dropped to the ground. I had forgotten the immense pain that came with changing.
But the pain was short lived.
Soon, I felt euphoric. I took in my surroundings, the colors had dulled, but everything else was enhanced. I could hear Jungkook hopping around in the distance, as well as the light breeze ruffling the fur of the large fox sitting just outside the tent.
I took a tentative step forward, then another and a another, until I had finally stuck my head out of the tent.
Hesitantly, I fully exited the tent. Jimin jumped up and stared down at me.
I was right, he was at least a foot and half taller than me.
I didn't know it was possible for a fox to look so smug.
