She said to call her 'Roxy.'
It did not appear to be her real name, but no one decided to question it.
Hyukmin had guided her into the house via the backdoor. She had been blindfolded which I thought was overkill. If she wanted to know where any of us lived, she probably wouldn't have too hard of a time figuring it out. Assassins tend to be able to locate people fairly easily when they want to.
Hyukmin himself was a bit surprising. I had just assumed he would be a similar height and build to Namjoon. Taller and sturdy. So when a young man resembling a cherub walked into the kitchen, I was a bit stunned. Even more so when Jungkook called him 'hyung' and let Hyukmin ruffle his hair.
It was evident that Jungkook adored his cousin, a wide grin spread across his face as soon as he laid eyes on the older male.
With his angelic looks, I was having a difficult time listening to my instincts about Hyukmin. My eyes were telling me he was tiny, chubby, and adorable. But my other senses told me he was a cobra and that I should be very wary of him.
While Taehyung, Hoseok, and Sarah cleaned up the mess in the kitchen that was mostly caused by Jungkook insisting he help Jin make breakfast, the rest of us sat at the dining table with the early morning guests.
I held onto one of Jimin's hands in hopes of keeping him calm and to pull him back if he decided to lunge across the table at Roxy. His appeared fairly relaxed, but I didn't want to take any chances.
I also really just wanted to hold his hand.
"Who hired you?" Namjoon spoke breaking the silence that was beginning to become uncomfortable.
Roxy let out a sigh. "I can't tell you that. The majority of my clients tend to prefer a certain amount anonymity in regards to the services I render. I'm sure you understand what with the nature of my line of work." She glanced around at those of us seated at the dining table. "My existing clients and potential clients would lose all trust in me if I started naming names. That's just bad for business."
"We could beat it out of you, if you'd prefer," Yoongi stated clearly with a serious look in his eyes. "So that it doesn't look like you just gave up the information willingly."
"How thoughtful," she said with a smirk, but there was no humor behind it.
"I don't have time for this," Hyukmin huffed out in his surprisingly gravely voice. "Roxy, they'll pay you. Name your price."
Roxy didn't even bat an eye before quickly saying, "Five hundred million."
"Okay-" Namjoon began, but was quickly cut off.
"Cash. Within the hour."
"That might be slightly harder to do. It's Sunday."
"So?" Roxy tilted her head to the side and blinked slowly at Namjoon.
"The banks are closed, and it's not like any of us keep that kind of money just laying around."
"You're smart, wealthy boys. I'm sure you'll figure it out." The smile on Roxy's face was nothing short of smug.
Namjoon signaled to the guys, and all but Hyukmin began to stand up from the table.
"Sarah," Namjoon called to her where she stood in the kitchen. "Would you mind helping Hyukmin and Y/n keep Roxy company for a few minutes, please?"
"Sure," came her reply. Sarah took a seat next to Roxy as the seven men disappeared down the hall and into Jin's bedroom.
I strained to listen to their conversation as Sarah and Hyukmin made small talk, ignoring Roxy who was seated between them.
All I could hear was the taping of fingertips on glass. They were typing out their conversation on their phones. Probably so no one can listen in. Smart.
"Just dab the spot with a cotton ball soaked in ammonia and scrub the area with an old toothbrush, wash it in cold water and the stain should be gone," Sarah was explaining to Hyukmin. I had missed the first part of the conversation and wasn't entirely sure what they were talking about. "If the stain is still there, don't put it in the dryer. Just repeat with the ammonia and scrubbing until the stain is gone."
"Or just wear black when you're working," Roxy mumbled.
"If it's still wet, you can usually get blood out of fabric just by rinsing it under cold water and scrubbing it with your fingers," Sarah continued, ignoring Roxy's comments. "Unless it's not your blood, then you probably don't want to do that."
Damnit, why wasn't I listening? How did they get into a conversation about getting blood out of clothes?
Our hosts reappeared, but did not immediately sit down with us.
"We will have your money within the hour," Namjoon said while gripping the back of the chair closest to where he stood. With a curt nod, the men dispersed.
Jimin and Taehyung each took a seat at the table, and the others quickly and quietly put on their shoes and exited to the garage.
