Chapter 2

Onyx Hill

I was sitting on a towel at the beach, gazing at the turtles drifting lazily by. When I got up and went into the water I started to swim towards deeper part of the water when a turtle came up to me and brushed against my legs, I hesitantly reached out and patted its head.

The turtle gazed up at me and bumped my hand with his head. Don't ask me how I know it is a boy, it's kinda a sixth sense. The turtle who I named Star, swam with me for the rest of the day but when my mother called me in for dinner Star gazed longingly at me then swam off to a pod of dolphins that were nearby.

"Hi mom!" I said as I look back at the receding back of my new friend. "Onyx why were you out there for so long? You had me worried" "sorry," I said miserably. "Well come eat," I sat down and ate my sushi on a wooden picnic table, as she sat beside me.

She was staring at me strangely, but maybe because I was eating all the food. I could have sworn I heard a low growling sound coming from her, but there were lots of sounds at the beach so I brushed it off. Eventually, I had finished all my sushi, and I set my chopsticks down and turned to face my mom.

All I see is two beady yellow eyes, and a large black wolf face to face with me. I froze for a moment, "mom?" I whisper.

The wolf opens his huge jaws and barks, I fall off the bench and start crawling towards the cabin we were renting. It caught up to me fast, and just as I got up to run, it jumped on me and pinned me down. I could feel its warm breath on my back, I started sobbing hysterically. It's a hot sunny day in California, August 23, and I am being attacked by an overgrown wolf. Great.

Honey, I'm home!

A bright cheery winny comes from the air above me. The weight of the wolf lifts off my back and I roll around so I can see. A huge grey stallion is standing over the body of the wolf. I gasped as I see the gorgeous grey and white wings on the hors-, no, Pegasus's back.

My mouth swung open and stayed there, I pinched my arm to make sure I wasn't dead, dying, or hallucinating. I wasn't.
