Chapter 5

Onyx Hill

The pegasus stood there until I got up, I walked toward it and- hello Onyx the pegasus said. Or at least I think it said, the pegasus's mouth was not moving. "Hello?" I said slowly. 

My name is Kodiak, I will be your ride for today. He pranced and his beautiful mane shined in the sun. "Hi Kodiak, are you real?" I said wonderingly, haha, you should hear yourself. You are a demi-god, I was sent by the camp director to fetch you before you get yourself killed. 

"Camp?" I questioned. Oh oops, Camp Wisteria, that's where demi-gods go for the Summer. "I have so many questions.." Well, you can ask them when we get to camp. But first, we have to make a pit-stop.

The house was still quite a distance away, but I could tell something was wrong, nothing moved, nothing at all. The wind whipped through my hair, tossing my golden brown locks in my eyes, so I was temporarily blinded. Plus the salt from the ocean blew into my eyes and I couldn't see a thing. Then I heard the whinny of an injured horse. 

Soon Kodiak and I had landed on the cliff without a sound. Come now we must help We trot over to where we had heard the agonized whinny. But instead of a horse, we saw a bay pegasus flying out of a back door with a black-haired girl on her back. 

Kodiak starts to canter toward the edge of the cliff because behind us the bay was being chased by what appeared to be a black wolf. Kodiak leaps off the cliff and dives into a steep spiral, I scream in fear and almost fall off of him but he quickly adjusted to my shift in weight. We come out of the dive and start skimming the crystal blue water. We come up behind the bay and then Kodiak says to it, Kestrel! Are you and the girl okay?

The bay replies in a song like voice, Of course, you know that little wolf won't bother a well trained and battle-hardened warrior like me!!" They laugh and the sound is like a thousand little bells ringing and dancing across the water. 

They swoop and dive chasing each other while evading the wolf because they were flying so fast we soon lost sight of the glowering bat-like creature behind us. We soon are flying over rocky hills and deep cliffs. 

The ride smoothed out and soon I was enjoying the salty air blowing through my hair and the smell of Kodiak. Kodiak tilted his head to look at me sideways, Onyx, since I was sent as an independent warrior to retrieve you, do you think- "I KNOW WHAT YOUR ABOUT TO SAY AND YES, I WILL ADOPT YOU!" Kodiak is still for a moment, um no... I was wondering if I could be your pegasus. "THAT'S EVEN BETTER! YES!" I shouted with joy. 

Soon we approach a small clearing, Kodiak and I split off of our little group and circle the area to see if there are any monsters around. I wave the bay whose name was Kestrel over and yelled "It's safe to land!!" in return her rider gave me a thumbs up.
