ANNIE POV

Sleep weighs heavy on my body as I try to get myself to wake up. As I began to come to I notice Mikasa was not by my side like she was when we first laid down. My heart picks up when I touch her blanket. It was cold. I rush up to get out of the pallet and find my body sluggish. What's wrong with me?! Why can't I move effectively. Why can't I focus. Think...think...THINK! ".

(Flashback)
~~here you girls go! I bet you are starving after traveling so far" says the ape as he served Mikasa and Annie a bowl of stew. "Where did you get this from! It's amazing" said Annie as she scarfed down the bowls contents. "I went hunting earlier before you both showed up. Nice catch huh?" He replies as both look towards Mikasa who was not eating. "Mika you should eat too. I promise nothing bad will happen. Eating will only make you feel better so you can regain your strength." Annie says convincing Mikasa to start eating. Unknowingly to them it was poisoned with an normally undetectable substance geared towards titan shifters. "It just had a weird smell to it that's all. Sorry if I was being rude." Whispers Mikasa as she takes small polite bites. The ape visibly tensed as she spoke.~~

Shit how could I have met that happen. That bastard ape. I told Mikasa not to worry and I put her in danger. How can she ever trust me again after such a stunt like that. My mind finally clears as I rush to where I suspect the ape and Mikasa might be. Sprinting from door to door I finally reach the research room. "You stupid ape, what do you think you are doing to her!" I yell as I see Mikasa strapped to a medical bed with her mouth forced open. A fresh human corps with a bloody neck and back laying on the floor. The ape standing over both with a satisfied look on his face. The ape turned and sighed. "This was the only way we where going to get her to do this. You know she would never have done this on her own and you would have just allowed it to happen. Therefore I needed you out of the way and her to be unable to resist me." He finishes while wiping Mikasa's tears. Anger boils up inside me as my vision turns dark. "I let what I care for be damaged. I let what's mine be broken. I let what I live for be toyed with. Total chaos broke loose and nothing but Mikasa's freedom mattered.

No POV

The bunker shook with mad power as Annie and the ape titan fought. Her strength rivaled his own, however, she had yet to bite her hand. A change was occurring. The words ADAPT were chanting in her head as she developed titan like characteristics while maintaining her small stature. With her speed and agility in her small and now extra powerful form she tore the ape apart. When finished with her raging she rushed towards Mikasa who had a fearful look on her face. That look quelled the hurt and anger felt by Annie and reduced her to a normal human state. "I'm so so very sorry Mika. I never thought this would happen." She sank to her knees while clutching the garments covering Mikasa. "How can you ever forgive or even trust me after putting you in a situation like that?" She finishes in a sob. She looks up to see Mikasa with a changed expression. One of understanding and grace which gave Annie the strength to stand back up on her feet, releasing the bindings that held Mikasa down. After helping her up they both together gathered all supplies and valuables from the bunker and got on their horses.

MIKASA'S POV

Everything was quite. Everything was so very vivid. My senses were on hyperdrive. Everything that touched my skin was felt down to the molecules within the fabric and everything I breathed in I could taste. My sight allowed me to see into the vast landscape in which we traveled and my hearing let me listen to Annie's heart as it gently beats. "Annie" I whisper, hearing my voice 10 times it's magnitude. "Is it normal for me to be able to hear your heart beat without my ear being near your chest?" I ask once I've gotten her attention. She makes a facial expression I do not understand and she stutters. "I..I don't think so? When I ingested the spinal fluid I stopped having the nightmares and that's all." She say as she approaches me. She places a hand on my cheek and my breathing hitches. The sensation of touch is very overwhelming. Her hand quickly leaves once she fixes my loose strand of hair. "Sorry...I forgot that your senses have greatly increased." She says sadly and pauses. I wait knowing she has more to say. "This is my fault. I put you in that situation and now you cannot even breath without feeling millions of things overloading your senses. What the hell did that man do to you?" She cried out instantly regretting her volume as she sees me flinch back to cover my ears. "He first injected me with something, the he forced me to ingest the spinal fluid of the man you saw lying on the ground. He was alive and somehow he knew the ape man, saying he was putting a burden on me that should not be put on anyone. The rest I don't remember" I Finnish as I gently close my eyes. The rising sun is so bright that my headache grows bothersome.

ANNIE'S POV
(Flashback)
~~"when taking the spinal fluid of another individual some characteristics of that person will live on inside you. If they have special structures or attributes they will indeed manifest in you and you will be able to use them in battle. Remember this Annie as you are destined to eat me"~~
(Flashback end)

Mikasa must have ate spinal fluid from someone who had abilities to sense or maybe even more. "Mikasa I've been told that when you take in the spinal fluid of a host, it's possible for you to take on some of their abilities if they have one. That's how I got my crystallization" I whisper knowing full and well that Mikasa calculated it as her normal volume of voice. "I wonder if he had a family...people who depended on him to survive. What if he had someone depending on him like I depended on armin and eren." She sobbed quietly as if she was trying to limit the impact she had on her own senses. My heart broke as I watched her. If I did not join her on this trip none of this would have happened. But if I had not she would still be tormented by those nightmares and fits of lost control. The only good I have done though is given her another nightmare to live though.

ERWIN'S POV
after talking to the decoys I've called jean and Levi to my office together. Both are the only real suspects I had. "Both of you are my top suspects. Don't think I do not know anything about your petty rivalry." I say putting it out there up front. Both men turn grim as I state the obvious. "I genuinely love Mikasa from the bottom of my heart and would put my life on the line to save her. Kill me or put me on trial now, I've done nothing to deceive anyone. You of all people should know that betrayal is the last thing I'd do. Like I promised you in the underground. Like the black dog they call me I'm loyal to the bitter end." Declares Levi as a look of passion and devotion blares in his eyes. I look to jean with for a plea and nothing but grim guilt flushed his face. "I trashed her rooms to frame Levi but I by no means kidnapped her. I thought Levi had something to do with it because he did not let me join him in the search for her so I wanted to draw attention to him. I swear to you on my life" jean pleas with tears running down his face. The look of disgust broadcasting on Levi's face shows that he truly did not kidnap Mikasa and the severe grief jean shows also depicts that someone else was the cause. "Jean you will be punished for attempting to frame your captan and you will be stripped of your rank and title as a scout. If you are willing to throw your leader under a bus for a love quarrel then you do not deserve to be a comrade in arms." I end my statement as I get up to leave the room. Silence is all that can be heard from the room as jean stares down into his hands.
