*Present*
"That was close," Dad sighed as he walked into the lab. I breathed a sigh of relief; I wasn't ready to face the avengers as Tony Stark's son just yet, and that had been my closest encounter with them as Peter, "They're still in the tower, better to keep up the front-"
"What front?" I heard a voice behind me and my eyes widened. Steve Rogers was here.
"Huh? What do you mean? Its uhh. A front to KEEP THE NEW INVENTION A SECRET!" I yelled to cover up dads groan. This was not going to end well.
"Huh, and that explains why Tony has a lab and a room right across his own for you, doesn't it?" Steve smirked.
"Yep. Yep. It sure does," I tried to cover up my terrible excuse, knowing that I could only stall the revelation for a few moments.
"Spill, Tony," Steve wasn't going anywhere.
"Its complicated," Dad muttered, rubbing his forehead, "his mum died and I had to take him in and-"
"You took him in?"
"Wait what?" I groaned. Steve didn't know. He didn't know anything. Well, at least it was dads fault now, "I didn't reveal anything! It was all you," I raised my hands in a surrendering gesture, resisting the urge to laugh.
"Stark"
"Yeah?" We both answered, which got him even more intrigued.
"Spill"
"Okay.... um, I am Spiderman," I said.
"Hey, that's my dramatic reveal phrase, make your own," Dad glared at me.
*Flashback*
I woke up to find 'Aunt May' looming over me. Suddenly, I sat bolt upright as everything came back to me. The museum, the spider and- I groaned. Not only had I passed out in front of Mr. Harrington, but Flash had most definitely seen me too. I would never hear the end of it from him.
"Aunt May?" I whispered as she signed me out of school.
"We're going. Home," she said pointedly, and I knew what she meant. Home. As in Stark tower.
Happy picked us up in the carpark, a dangerous move, even considering that I had just passed out on a science excursion. The ride home was silent, and I had no idea what my dad was going to do. I also had no idea what the spider bite was going to do to me, and what the symptoms were. Well, obviously fainting was one but if it was poisonous or fatal, then...
I would have to tell dad, and besides, what harm could be done? We arrived at Stark Tower and I scrambled out, racing to the elevator at the far end of the tower, the PERFECT (Private Elevator for Residents; Employees Cannot Trespass) elevator was the only one that would take me to the top 15 floors, residential floors.
"Welcome home, Mr. Stark," M.O.N.D.A.Y said as she scanned his face for identification.
"Hi, take me to level 96," I said as the elevator zoomed up to my dad's lab.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y, where's dad?"
"I believe he is in his office, boss," She replied. I bolted to his office and shoved the door open. Dad was waiting.
"What the hell were you thinking?" he exclaimed as he checked my forehead for temperature and pulled out a cold flannel.
"I'm not- sick" I tried to explain. He raised his eyebrows expectantly, waiting for a truthful answer. I wasn't the best at lying, and I knew that telling him the truth earlier would save everyone a lot of time.
"I was looking at mums exhibit, the spider one. There was this one spider that had her DNA in it and was a prototype for a spider with venom that could heal people with serious diseases. But when I went to the case, it wasn't there. I asked a worker and he said that it had probably been taken for analysis, so I went back to the group."
"But?" Dad asked tentatively, he knew I wasn't telling him everything.
"The spider wasn't taken for maintenance, because it bit me" I admitted. "That's why I passed out, it must have been one of the symptoms of the bite," Dads eyes widened, and I knew his brain was thinking of the most logical solution: take some tests, so I nodded.
"Dum-E, draw some blood and send it to Banners lab for analysis, but F.R.I.D.A.Y, don't tell him whose it is," Dad said, his voice cracking.
"Of course, boss," F.R.I.D.A.Y replied.
Dum-E reached out a clawed hand with a needle at the end and pricked my finger. He put the sample in a small jar and slid down to Banners lab, his wheels whizzing down the hallway.
"In the meantime, would you like some ice-cream?" Dad asked, and I knew he wouldn't let me out of his sight again, so I nodded. We went down to the kitchen together and I sat on the stool. Dad grabbed the container of ice cream and a split second before he opened the cupboard to get spoons, I knew what was going to happen and jumped up, startled at the clang of metal crockery falling on the tiled floor. Dad turned and his eyes widened as he looked at me. His voice shook as he said "Pete, come down"
My eyes narrowed, as I didn't know what he meant, but when I saw where I was, my eyes widened. I was on the roof.
"Hey F.R.I.D.A.Y, delete all files for the data scanned in Peters blood and bring the sample back to me," Dad murmured, his eyes still fixated on me, even though I was on the floor.
"Of course, boss. And would you like me to open a new project with that?" F.R.I.D.A.Y asked.
"Yes, and name it-"
"Spiderman," I whispered, staring at my wrists, which had a sort of web-shooter on them, in awe.
*Back to present*
For the first time in a few days, I managed to get into my suit and scramble out of the tower. The avengers had pestered me for an explanation, and it wasn't easy explaining to all of them how I got my powers, why I became a superhero and what I could do to almost 30 people. Dad was also telling everyone that if anything happened to me, he would kill everyone in the room then himself, so I wanted to put as much distance between myself and the avengers as possible, so they didn't get killed.
"Karen, give me a quick run through of the city," I asked my AI.
"There have been reports of a mugging on 32nd avenue, maybe you should check that out," Karen replied. F.R.I.D.A.Y was in every system, camera and security monitor in the world. It was very easy to find robberies or muggings due to this.
I swung to 32nd avenue just as a masked man threatened a lady with a gun.
"Woah, dude, you shouldn't threaten people with guns, didn't your mum teach you that?" I exclaimed, as I webbed up a gun. He snarled in response and I webbed his legs and arms. Suddenly, my spider sense tingled and I dodged the woman, who was holding a pocket knife. She was pretty skilled, but its hard to beat someone in a fight if they know when you are going to attack.
The woman grinned and said, "ever wondered why I've never attacked your father?" I let my concentration drop for a split second, and that's when she took the opportunity to slice at my calf. I yelled and cried out. Now was probably the time to leave. I slung to Stark Tower and climbed in through my bedroom window, knowing that F.R.I.D.A.Y would alert dad when she realised I was injured.
"Peter, it appears you have a cut on your calf, you require immediate medical attention so it doesn't become infected. Shall I inform Mr Stark?" F.R.I.D.A.Y asked.
"No. No way don't tell dad," I tried to tell her.
"I think you may be suffering from blood loss, informing Mr Stark now," F.R.I.D.A.Y said. I groaned at buried my face in my pillow. A few seconds later, mum and dad barged into the room, practically knocking the door down in the process. They turned me over so I was on my back and the cut was exposed. I could hear dad gasp, even though the cut was healing. I didn't want to look at it, knowing I would throw up if I did.
"I'm getting Dr Hulk," dad announced.
"I don't need- I'm healing, dad," I tried to tell him, but F.R.I.D.A.Y was already asking Dr Hulk to come up to our floor.
