Over the next couple of weeks, the majority of the time was spent in bed just lying around doing nothing. Jack spent some of the time with me and we just fooled around in bed, but at other times I had no clue as to his whereabouts. I didn’t mind as such; I wasn’t the clingy type that had to what his boyfriend was doing at all times, but the complete communication breakdown that happened as a result of it was to say the least annoyingly irksome. I made a mental note to confront Jack about it and rolled over in bed, hoping to go back to sleep for a few more hours.

Unsurprisingly it just wasn’t going to happen, so with a reluctant sigh I got out of bed and made my way into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. While it was brewing I sent Jack a text asking if he was busy because I wanted to go over the last part of the song I had finally finished late last night. He replied almost immediately, so I guess today was going to be a day we actually spoke to each other, saying that he would be round in a half hour with lunch. Huh, I didn’t realize that it was so late into the day and that I had actually gotten a pretty good lie in seeing as it was nearing one pm.

Exactly thirty minutes later and Jack was walking through my front door like he owned the place, which he didn’t yet as we hadn’t gotten around to moving his stuff in and officially moving in together.

“You were quick,” I stated as he handed me a paper bag with my food in.

“I was already on my way over when you asked me to come,” he replied kissing me.

“Oh yeah? And why were you coming round?” I asked, my lips ghosting over his as I wrapped my arms around his hips and pulled him closer to me.

“I wanted to come and see my boyfriend. Got a problem with that?” He asked.

“Mm, I might have.”

“Oh yeah?”

“Yeah. My boyfriend’s a jerk.”

“How so?”

“He goes days without talking to me and during those days no one I know of knows where he goes. He just disappears for a couple of days and then pretends like it didn’t happen.” I told him.

“Well I’m sure he has a good reason for doing it.”

“I’m sure he does, doesn’t stop it from being annoying though.”

“I suppose it doesn’t.” I pulled away from the embrace we had maintained throughout the conversation and grabbed a plate to eat my lunch from as I lead Jack into the spare room- turned home studio. I dropped down onto the couch and started eating while Jack went over to pick up one of my guitars and started playing random tunes.

“So what did you want to work on today?” He asked.

“Just working out the ending to the song I’ve been working on,” I told him.

“You finished it?” I nodded.

“Yeah, in my book look at the lyrics and see what you think,” I told him as I pointed to the whereabouts of my lyric book.

“You’re letting me look inside the book?” He asked double checking what I had said as he knew, like everyone, how private I was about it.

“Yeah, but don’t look at anything else.”

“I won’t.” He leaved through it while I finished up the last of my lunch and was reading through it when I went to take my plate out.

“You want anything?”

“Coffee.”

“You know where the kitchen is,” I replied with a smug smile.

“Fuck you!” He called behind me as I walked away.

“Maybe later.” I muttered returning a couple of minutes later with two mugs in my hands.

“Love you,” he told me as I placed the mug down on the desk next to him.

“Sure you do.” We spent the rest of the afternoon going over the song and changing it around as we saw fit. When we had finished in the studio, we decided to just stay in and watch Disney films while snuggled up on the couch with a Chinese takeout cluttering the table in front of us. Jack stayed over, so that we could make our way over to the actual studio together tomorrow and we fell asleep on the couch.

“Hey guys,” I greeted everyone as Jack and I walked through the door the next morning.

“Morning,” Rian replied. We spent most of the morning going over the lyrics I had written and showing Zack and Rian the bass and drum parts to each song, before going on to practice them together to see how they sounded. We had to make a few adjustments, which were easy enough before Rian went in to start tracking the drums throughout the afternoon. Zack went home at some point midafternoon because he wasn’t really required to be there and had nothing to do, so it was pointless him just hanging around. Jack was in another room doing God only knows what and I was using the time to call Vic letting him know that I had finished the song and asking if he was still interested on collaborating with us on it. He told me that he was, but that he wouldn’t be able to get out here to come and record it with us.

“That’s cool, just record it over there and the send it to us,” I told him through the phone.

“Sweet, I can’t wait to work with you on this.”

“Us either,” I replied already having told my bandmates about getting Vic to work on this with us. “I'll send over a copy of the lyrics later tonight when I get home and then just send it over whenever you’ve recorded it.” I told him, writing a reminder to do exactly that on my hand so that I would remember later.

“Cool, talk to you later.”

“Sure. Bye Vic.” I hung up the phone just as Jack and Rian made their way into the room.

“Good?” I asked Rian, who nodded and picked up a bottle of water that was lying around.

“And what were you doing?” I asked Jack as I poked his shoulder to get his attention.

“Nothing,” he replied innocently with a tone that implied anything but innocence.

“Okay,” I replied with doubt.

“Same time tomorrow then?” Jack asked.

“What are you planning Jack?”

“Nothing!”

“So why don’t I believe you?”

“I’m with Alex, Jack. You sound like you’re up to something,” Rian agreed with me.

“Eugh fine,” He leaned over and whispered something in Rian’s ear. I couldn’t hear what he said, but whatever it was, was enough to satisfy Rian who nodded at Jack before picking up his bag and walking out.

“So am I allowed to know?”

“No.”

“Am I at least allowed to know why I’m not allowed to know?” I tried.

“It’s a surprise.”

Great! I hate surprises.
