I wake up from the sound of footsteps outside of my room. I roll over to check the time. 4.30 AM. Why would anyone be up so damn early? Whoever it is outside of my door is walking back and forth over and over as if they're impatiently waiting for something.
Hold on... I suddenly remember the conversation I overheard when Seokjin was in the bathroom earlier today, or I guess it was technically yesterday. Could it be that he's waiting for the delivery of his secret prescription? He's been hiding in his room all day and I got the feeling he was avoiding me after dinner. Maybe it's time to confront him about it.
I slide out of bed and put on a pair of loose sweatpants and a t-shirt before stepping out into the hallway. Just as I expected I'm met with Seokjin's shocked face.
"J-Jungkook?"
"Hyung, why are you pacing back and forth in the middle of the night? I'm trying to-"
I stop talking when I'm practically slapped in the face with the lovely vanilla scent again, the difference being that it's mixed with a bit of fear and that it's also much, much stronger. This time there's no doubt where it's coming from either. Seokjin.
I take a deep breath to try and calm down, but it only makes things worse when I breathe in more of the scent. My fingers start twitching and a tingling sensation takes form in the bottom of my stomach. It feels amazing for some reason and it leaves me aching for more. Much more.
I move forward and Seokjin quickly backs away with furrowed brows. He looks worried. Eventually Seokjin hits his back against the wall and I end up standing in front of him, placing my hands firmly on his shoulders.
"What are you hiding from me, Hyung?"
"I don't know what you're talking about. I'm not hiding anything." He sounds convincing but I can just tell that he's lying.
"Liar," I growl and leans in closer. "You've been avoiding me lately and this smell is not normal."
"W-what smell?" Seokjin asks stupidly.
"Don't play dumb. You know exactly what I'm referring to."
I run a hand across Seokjin's neck and he shudders in response. It makes the scent more intense and I can't help but to nuzzle my face in the crook of his neck to feel it better. It's beyond blissful. It drives me crazy.
"S-stop, what are you doing?" Seokjin says and tries to push me off, but I grab his hands and pin them over his head, making him unable to move away from me.
"I'm scenting you, Hyung. You smell so fucking good. Almost like an..."
My eyes widen as the realization hits me. I pull back a bit to look at his face.
"...An omega."
Seokjin's breath hitches and he stares at the me with horror, and I in turn stare back almost equally as scared.
"Hyung... are you an omega?" I ask quietly.
The question lingers in the air as Seokjin struggles to find an answer until he finally bursts out laughing. It's so unfitting to the situation and it confuses me to say the least.
"What's flown into you, JK? Of course I'm not an omega. I'm a beta just like the others."
I frown at his reaction.
"Then explain to me why you smell like this."
"Like I said, what smell? I'm a beta so I can't-"
I tighten my grip on Seokjin's hands and press him harder against the wall. I can feel my sanity slipping away from my grasp the more I breathe in the scent. It makes me more and more like the alphas I despise.
