When I get back home late at night after spending the entire day at school I realize that I didn't do the one thing I was supposed to do: Ask someone to teach me how to be a good alpha. Fuck. The others are definitely going to ask about it. Should I just lie and say I did it and then just ask someone tomorrow instead? No, they'll know I'm lying right away, especially since Seokjin was there the entire time.
I decide to just try to avoid the subject by literally avoiding everyone and going right to sleep, but that quickly fails when I run into Namjoon in the hallway on my way to the bathroom.
"Yo, how'd it go?" he asks right away.
"With what?" I ask stupidly, hoping he might be referring to something else, but of course he isn't.
"You asked someone, right? What did they say?"
Damn it. He'll scold me if I tell him I forgot to do it. Perhaps I should lie about it anyways?
"He asked the coach," Seokjin says from behind my back. "I listened to their conversation."
I get a little startled because I didn't notice he was standing there. He must've just gotten back from working at the café.
"Oh, that's a relief," Namjoon says happily. "Did he give you any advice?"
"He, uh... he said that..."
Shit, how do I answer that? I didn't expect Seokjin to come in here and lie for me. I glance at him and he takes the hint and answers Namjoon's question without batting an eye.
"He said to take it in small steps and try to get used to the changes. He suggested to start off with getting used to the different smells of alphas and omegas."
"Right. That's exactly what he said," I say confidently and Seokjin smiles discreetly because he probably thinks I sound dumb.
"OK, did he give any tips on how to do that?"
"To spend a lot of time around alphas and omegas until the smell becomes a normal thing. Maybe to start off with just one person at the time," Seokjin says.
I'm honestly impressed by how good he is at making stuff up like that on the spot. It sounds very believable too.
"Great! But how will you be able to spend that much time with an omega?" Namjoon asks. "Sure, you have alphas on your team so you'll be able to get used to them, but I don't know any omega at least. Do you have any friends at school?"
I automatically look over at Seokjin, but he squints his eyes at me to make sure I keep my mouth shut. I try thinking if I actually know any other omegas and quickly realize that I don't. There are some in my class, but I've never really talked to them.
"No, but I guess I can deal with that later?" I answer. "The coach suggested to try some other things too, so I might start with those until I find an omega to hang around."
Namjoon happily accepts that response and pats my shoulder with a smile.
"Sounds good, buddy. I'm glad you're dedicating yourself to become a better person. I know it's not easy to do."
He walks into his and Taehyung's bedroom with high spirits, leaving me alone with Seokjin. I expect him to say something, but he casually starts walking to the living room without sparing me a second glance. My hand reaches out on it's own to catch his and he stops in his tracks and stares at our joined hands.
"Oh, sorry," I say and let go right away.
"Did you want something?"
"Actually, yes. Why did you cover for me? You didn't need to do that. I could've just told him I didn't do it and go ask someone tomorrow."
