"We'd be quicker taking the flipping stairs!" Ziggy snapped as she, Dean, Maggie and Ben waited for the elevator to arrive on the maternity floor.
"It's not really practical," Dean tried to make a light joke.
Ziggy shot him a deathly look.
"I'm sorry if this is amusing to you, but I feel like I'm getting hit with a sledgehammer. It hurts, oh my Gosh it hurts!" Ziggy gritted her teeth.
                              Dean could not agree more.
Ziggy was holding onto his hand for dear life.
"Can we get some help here? My daughter's in labour," Maggie called out as the elevator doors opened.
"We could have helped you downstairs," a nurse told them as she brought over a wheelchair.
"You're kidding," Ben rubbed his forehead.
"At least we'll have something to laugh about in a few days," Maggie pointed out.
                              Ziggy glared at her.
"Let's get you settled, sweetheart," the nurse said as she and Dean helped her Ziggy on the wheelchair.
Danny came out of a patient's room and he approached the nurses' station.
                              "Ziggy, what's happened?"
"Oh nothing much, just having a picnic," Ziggy growled.
"I see the contractions are getting closer," he put a clipboard down on the table.
"They've been really close together and she's in agony," Dean said softly.
"That's totally normal. We'll get her something to help with the pain. Let's get you into Room 245," Danny replied.
                              >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
A few hours later, Ziggy was still in labour.
"Ziggy, I know you're exhausted but I need you to push again," Danny instructed.
Ziggy pushed but it didn't do much.
                              "And again," Danny told her.
"I can't do it. I can't," Ziggy burst into tears as she leaned back on the bed.
"It's okay, Zig. You can do this," Dean comforted her.
"Dean, soon enough we're going to be parents. Us two idiots," Ziggy said.
                              "Aw, cheers".
"You know what I mean. I know you say that we're ready, but are we ready?"
"There's only one way to find out," Dean responded.
He gave her a kiss on the forehead.
"Let's go again, Ziggy," Danny chipped in.
Dean was in complete awe of how strong and courageous Ziggy was.
                              "One more push!"
Finally Ziggy and Dean heard the sound of her baby crying.
"Here she is," Danny said as the nurse wrapped her in a blanket.
"It's a girl. We have a daughter," Ziggy smiled widely.
"I'm so proud of you," Dean held her hand.
"Do you want to have a hold?" The nurse asked.
Dean and Ziggy nodded their heads enthusiastically.
Ziggy carefully held the baby in her arms.
"She's perfect," Dean commented, enamoured by his little girl.
