The Story of Dean and Ziggy

Chapter 3:

The next day, Ziggy was in Dean's bed in the caravan park.

She sat up and tucked a strand of her long blonde hair behind her ear.

Ziggy glanced at Dean, who was sleeping on the kitchen bench.

Dean had suggested that Ziggy rent a caravan, but there were no vacancies.

Dean had been generous enough to offer Ziggy his bed.

Ziggy got up and opened a jar of coffee beans.

She got down two mugs from the cupboard.

"What's going on?" Dean asked as he rubbed his eyes.

"I didn't mean to wake you. I'm sorry," Ziggy replied.

"All good," Dean said as he stood up.

Dean was shirtless.

"Here you go, stud," Ziggy handed him a navy t shirt.

"Cheers," Dean said as he put it on.

"Dean, I feel really bad. You shouldn't have to be sleeping on the kitchen bench," Ziggy began to say.

"I've slept worse," Dean told her.

"But-," Ziggy tried to protest, but it was futile.

"Ziggy, it's fine. I honestly don't mind. You've always been there for me and I want to be here for you," Dean assured her.

"Are you sure?" Ziggy asked in a murmur.

"I'm sure," Dean smiled at her.

An hour later, Dean was sitting on a deck chair outside the caravan.

"Are you heading to work?" Ziggy popped her head around the door.

"Yeah, I have a shift till two," Dean slipped on his black runners.

"Do you want to meet for lunch? We can have lunch outside the surf club?" Ziggy suggested.

"Sounds good," Dean agreed as he tied his shoelaces.

He stood up and grabbed his keys and iPhone off of the table.

"Well have a good day working. I'll enjoy my day off," Ziggy grinned as she teased him.

"I hate you right now," Dean rolled his eyes at her.

"See ya," Ziggy smiled widely as she waved goodbye.

Dean was walking past the shower.

"Dean, hey!" Ryder Jackson called after him.

Ryder was in Year 12 and he was really fond of Dean.

"Hey," Dean replied.

"Was that Ziggy in your caravan?" Ryder questioned him.

"It isn't what you're thinking," Dean answered.

"I didn't say anything,"Ryder held up his hands.

"You have that weird look on your face. Ziggy and I aren't together. We're just mates," Dean confirmed.

"I always thought that you had a thing for her," Ryder said.

"What? I mean okay yeah Ziggy's great. She's strong, caring and she says what she thinks -," Dean started.

He had to stop himself.

It was true that he had always been attracted to Ziggy, but she had been with Brody and she was off limits.

That wasn't the case now.
