It wasn't an exaggeration to say that Dean Thompson and Brody Morgan never got on with each other.
They had come from very different backgrounds.
Brody had been brought up in a stable family and Dean had lived in the rough town of Mangrove River.
As well as that, Brody's brother, Justin had dated Dean's ex, Willow.
Now, Ziggy was in the middle of their argument.
"Ziggy, are you okay?" Brody asked as he seemed worried for his wife.
"You don't have any right to talk to her!" Dean was fuming.
"Get lost, will you?" Brody shot back.
                              Dean's eyes widened in shock.
He was fed up with Brody and the drama that constantly surrounded him.
"You're a real piece of work!" Dean lifted up his arm to punch Brody.
"He's not worth it," Ziggy told him.
"Dean, please," she pleaded as she touched his shoulder.
Dean glanced at Ziggy and stepped away from Brody.
"You've caused Ziggy enough issues. Leave her alone," Dean warned Brody.
"Let's go, Dean," Ziggy took his hand as she led him away.
                              **************
Ziggy and Dean walked into Ziggy's house.
"I can't believe that guy. Who does he think he is?" Dean said as he flopped down on an armchair.
"What happened with you two?" Maggie demanded as she stopped correcting her students' work.
"Brody wants Zig back," Dean answered.
"Is he cheating on Simone now?" Maggie cried out.
"No, he broke up with the love of his life," Ziggy sighed heavily.
"I hope you set him straight," Maggie folded her arms.
"Of course I did. I wouldn't do that to Dean," Ziggy was sitting on his lap.
"Brody can't make up his mind at all, can he?" Maggie leaned back in her chair.
                              "Apparently not," Dean grumbled.
"Dean, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. We're together and that's all that matters," Ziggy ruffled his hair.
                              "Okay," Dean gave in.
"Why don't you go have a shower? I'll head out to the Diner to get some dinner," Ziggy suggested.
"Sounds like a plan," Dean kissed the top of her head.
                              Dean headed down the hall.
"Are you alright, Zig?" Maggie wondered.
"I don't know. It's been a long day. Yesterday, I thought Brody had left me for the woman that he planned to rest of his life with, and now everything's different for him".
                              ***************
Ziggy was sitting on a chair in the Diner as she waited for her order to be ready.
She scrolled down on her text messages.
"Ziggy?" Irene held out the takeaway bag.
Ziggy slipped her iPhone into the back pocket of her black denim shorts.
"Thanks, you're the best," she handed Irene a $20.
"Always love a happy customer," Irene smiled.
