Chapter 11

Lexi's POV

I was still looking out the window, waiting for Harry's return, when a spell was cast, a spell that was very familiar. The Dark Mark. Voldemort's Mark.

I looked around outside the window and realised that Death Eaters had infiltrated the school. As soon as I thought about telling a teacher, an alarm sounded, telling us to evacuate to a safe place within the castle. 

I was pushed with the rest of the students, scrambling and pushing people. I needed to find a way out of this stampede and over to the tower with the Dark Mark over it. I slowed my pace down to a slow walk, getting some frustrated words and curses from people behind me. Once I was walking towards the back of the group, I turned around and headed back towards the tower.

I reached the tower to find Dumbledore standing there, pale and sick-looking, with Draco Malfoy pointing his wand at Dumbledore. If Dumbledore was back, that means Harry must be close.

"Expelliarmus!" Malfoy shouted as I ran up the stairs, alerting them to my presence. "Ah, Black, here to witness me killing your beloved Headmaster?" Malfoy cockily sneered, though I could sense his reluctance to kill Dumbledore.

"Honestly, I don't think you have the guts," I stated.

Malfoy rose his wand and readied himself to cast the spell, just as I lunged at him, tackling him to the ground.

"Get off me! I wasn't going to kill him!" Malfoy cried as I punched him repeatedly in the face while sitting on his stomach to hold him down. He was crying now and trying to shield his face.

Suddenly, there was another presence in the tower as Snape showed himself. I climbed off Malfoy and he ran away, clutching his face. Snape rose his wand at me and I returned the gesture.

"Expelliarmus!" Snape shouted at me. I was thrown back with excessive force, hitting something hard with the back of my head. My consciousness faltered as well as my vision. I was suddenly exhausted and I couldn't move. 

I knew Dumbledore needed help but I was too tired to move. Then, Snape cast the spell I never wanted to hear again.

"Avada Kedavra!" Dumbledore was flown backwards, over the balcony of the tower.

"NO!"
