Chapter 9

Harry's POV

Dumbledore realised that Lexi and I had been searching for information, though I'm sure Slughorn didn't say anything. But Dumbledore did find the location of a Horcrux, part of Voldemort. Dumbledore quickly briefed me on the mission he was taking me on.

"Harry, as you know, we are retrieving a Horcrux. We aim to destroy it once we have a hold of it as to weaken Voldemort. You already destroyed one without being aware of it. When you stabbed Tom Riddle's diary in the Chamber of Secrets, you destroyed one Horcrux. I am bringing you with me to a cave where a Horcrux is supposedly hidden. It may or may not be there, but we must travel anyway,"

"Is Lexi not coming?" I asked, hurt but I understood why she wouldn't want to be around me.

"No. She refused to come and I assume you are aware of the reason," Dumbledore suspected right as it's my fault that Lexi doesn't want to be anywhere near me. "Hold onto my arm, Harry,"

I did as Dumbledore asked and we were transported away.

After rowing in a small boat, we came to a piece of land with a fountain in the centre. I climbed out first, lending my hand to Dumbledore in a helpful manner. He climbed out without my help though, to which I awkwardly lowered my extended hand.

I walked up to the fountain and looked in, not seeing anything except the mysterious liquid.

"Professor, there's nothing in there," I stated, confusedly.

"I'm aware there's nothing in there. We need to drink the liquid in the fountain to be able to receive the Horcrux."

"But we don't know whether the liquid is poison or not,"

"Exactly. I will drink it. If we get attacked, it will be up to you to fight whatever comes at us,"

Dumbledore takes his first sip
