Yoongi sent yet another fireball at the attacking wolf only for it to dissolve into shadows and a few sun rays. Mingi was trying to use his ability on the creatures but it proved useless. He settled for punching them with his iron brass knuckles that ended with sharp small knife–like pieces. They did not do much damage but seemed enough to disorientate the creatures.
"How are we supposed to fight something that can't be killed?" asked Mingi as the shadows and sun rays that had dissolved soon found each other again to create the same wolf from a few seconds ago.
"We need to take down whoever is controlling them," said Yoongi between his pants. His palms were red and fire was burning in them, he was not even trying to hold it back by then. The fire in his veins was now circulating in his palms, free to destroy whatever it wanted. The fire was unstoppable. What was questionable was how much stamina and endurance Yoongi had left.
Mingi pressed his back against Yoongi's. Even though he was probably never going to say it, he was thankful for the support. "Doyoon? We can't reach him through the tree barrier!" A wolf whined as Mingi punched it and Yoongi took the chance to set it on fire. "Is Jimin going to be fine there?"
"He has to be," A wolf jumped with gaping mouth for Yoongi, but was met only with the radiating heat and burning sensation of Yoongi's fire. It dissociated, "Jimin is cleverer than he looks. Any success contacting Chan?"
"No," replied Mingi. He seemed even more tired than Yoongi but that was understandable. As much as Mingi was good at fighting he was also used to using his ability as a major weapon, now that it was useless he was left only with his fists. "The link is either completely broken or we were simply cut off."
Yoongi was trying to think of a plan but to no avail. The wolves were coming one after another leaving him close to no time to think about what he could do next aside from sending fireball after fireball as the beasts. He cursed. The mist was moving.
Yoongi could hear distant mumbling, probably Doyoon and Jimin on the other side. Then the mist began swirling and two new figures were formed from mist and what appeared to be dirt – giants. They were humanoid and thrice Mingi's height which was not little. As they stomped closer the ground shook and the wolves took a few steps back. Yoongi hoped they were retreating but, alas, they were simply surrounding them and giving path to their new comrades.
"Please tell me you have a plan." Mingi's voice wavered. "I promised Yunho I will be early for dinner today."
Yoongi pursed his lips together. He had a few seconds to say the most until the giants had reached and smashed them to pieces with such ease as a human did with ants. He took these few seconds to think of a plan.
Running away was impossible, they were surrounded after all. Attacking the wolves or the giants would be madness as he were alone for the physical strength. All Mingi could do was slow them down in his current state. Bait? No. That was not how they did things. And Yoongi was not going to abandon someone once again. Shout for help? Pitiful, and although it could work it would also give Doyoon an even better idea as to where he and Mingi were. Everything seemed like a bad, impossible plan.
Finally before them stood the two giants of mist and dirt, their glowing eyes made of something Yoongi soon realized were glass pebbles that children played with. Children... Yoongi remembered the map he had looked at with Chan before coming here. There was supposed to be a kids playground on the other side of the bridge. Doyoon might have seemed mad but he was also people's man. He was not going to hurt the innocent with reckless actions such as attack on someone like Yoongi. Something was fishy.
"Don't move," said Yoongi in a hushed voice. He highly hoped Mingi would catch on what he had realized. Even if he had not, the giants soon proved his theory.
