Kaliah's POV
Kaliah thought there was no way she could make it to Juneau in less than a month.
The thought of traveling seven hundred miles in more than a year seemed impossible to her.
Liam, however, stayed optimistic and stayed positive. It was starting to get on Kaliah's nerves.
Sergeant Allard passed Liam a large purple back pack filled with all supplies they could need for the next month. If they were to run out of supplies, the three of them would be toast. "Good luck," Allard kissed them both on the cheek and pushed open a heavy metal door leading outside.
The door clanged behind them, leaving them with the remaining soldiers protecting the border. They nodded and practically ignored Liam and Kaliah.
Liam swiftly pecked Kaliah's lips and pulled up her hood for her. "Kaliah..." Liam's eyes searched for hers. His blue eyes quickly held her gaze. "Are you sure you're going to be alright?"
Kaliah pulled her scarf up to her mouth. "Of course," she winced as the cold bit into her skin. "I'll be fine."
Liam sighed, gazing at the sky. Kaliah followed it and saw the blue sky stare at her. It was so much nicer not having snowy clouds blocking her view. They walked until they were out of the sight of the Canadian border control. "Wait here," Liam put a finger to his lips. Kaliah obliged, feeling a wave of nausea come over her. She held it in until Liam left, then vomited in a dead shrub, well not dead, the leaves were beginning to bud, but it wasn't after that. Kaliah fell to her knees and began coughing, her stomach becoming sore. She feared more pregnancy symptoms would haunt her soon.
Kaliah heard the sound of an engine being revved. "Oh no, Liam!" She exclaimed when her ocean blue eyed, perfect smile boyfriend drove around the corner in a four wheeler.
He beamed at her and was chuckling. "Now you can rest while I drive the whole way there! Hop in!"
Kaliah rolled her eyes at Liam's goofiness. She didn't have to ask him to know that he had stolen the four wheeler Jeep was stolen by some idiot guard who left the key in the vehicle. She also knew better than to argue with him, he would just be overly nice all the time anyway. Liam popped the passenger door open when he climbed out of the car, then grabbed Kaliah's bags before helping her into the car (against her will).
"We have enough gas for the next four hundred miles, good thing the car still had plenty of miles left."
"Liam!" Kaliah slapped his arm with her free hand. "You stole gas too?"
He nodded. "Yep, and they might realize we took it, so we better get going!" Saying that, Liam floored the gas and sent them speeding through the spacious, partly snowy, Alaskan wild.
They drove for several hours the first day, Liam driving the entire time. They sang songs, thought of baby names, and just plain talked. It already started to get dark at (Liam had received a watch from Allard) five o clock, resulting in Liam almost running into pine trees several times. Kaliah just laughed each time, Liam made an odd noise when he was panicked.
"I'm starting to get tired," Liam yawned and stretched one arm out to the back.
"Well pull over and we'll spend the night in the car. No animals can eat our cold caracases here!" Kaliah joked.
Liam scowled, until Kaliah poked him in the stomach, he erupted into giggles. "Stop," he said in a high voice then coughed, "Kal stop," his voice was normal again.
"Just kiss me, you fool!" Kaliah leaned in, kissing him lightly. They broke apart at the sounds of sirens and flashing lights in their horizons.
"Liam Hayford and Kaliah Aarons, please exit the vehicle with your hands up, you are surrounded."
