Chapter 7

Whoa. The first thing I see: fighting. Everyone is holding their own, but I know that we’ll be overwhelmed soon. I just realize that I don't have my weapons. Before I can go back into my house, my arm is shot. "Ah!" I gasp as I fall to the ground. Pain erupts in my right bicep and red liquid pours out of it. I put my hand to my arm just to have more pain sear through me. I try to stand up, but I can't. I think I'll die here because no one will come and save me like I saved the girl.

The world goes blank and numb, and all of the noises are muffled. After a millennia, faces appear above me. Girl faces. Uh oh, that can't be good. "Get him up." I hear. I'm lifted into the air and transported somewhere. I'm placed down and see the girls sit down, maybe for a rest break? I struggle and lift myself up onto my elbows just to find a sword at my throat. "Don't move, you'll make everything much harder for both me and you."

"Ha, you got them again, Clara. When will you stop?" Another girl says.

"Never." A laugh. I hope she was joking. Because I want to leave. Now. "Okay girls, let's head out." It's the Clara girl. This time though, I am forced to walk. Standing up was a pain, and now they're making me walk. Every step is fire burning through my blood.

Step after step, we walk through the scorching hot fields to get to the other side- the girls side. I tried escaping using different techniques: running; Didn't work, now I'm tied up, fighting; didn't work, now I have my hands tied up instead of only my legs. Great. This day is going great.

Finally, we get to the walls, and one girl places her hand on it, like we do on our side. The walls slide open, and I'm thrust into the other side.

.....

At first I think I am back at home. Everything looks the same as it does on our side; the House, buildings, and the well. The only thing different, well, it’s that there are only girls. I look around to see if there are any other POW’s like me. Nope. But how? Was it because of my bullet wound? Did the others escape? So many questions spin around in my head. I almost pass out because of everything that is happening. People stare at us as we walk by, and I don’t blame them.

Finally, we get to the prisons. One of the girls swings open the door to one and another pushes me in. She comes inside and unties me, then leaves. The girl who opened the door closes it and locks it. Darn. I guess I’m stuck here for now.

The prison isn’t that grand. It’s underground, with an opening leading upwards, a little cot placed over the dirt floor, and a ground toilet. I sigh and plop down onto the cot. The bleeding has finally stopped and now I have nothing to do. There is literally nothing to do here.

Someone suddenly appears at the door (would it be counted as a door?). It’s a brunette girl with bright green eyes. “Whoa, it’s a real guy!” She says, like she hasn't seen one before; she probably hasn't. She crouches down and looks at me like I'm a specimen. "What's your name?"

"Why would I tell you?" I say spitefully.

"Oh." She sounds disappointed. "I guess I'll check back on you later."

I can't just do that being the person I am, so I say, "Lance." She turns around and smiles big.

"My name's Brook! Nice to meet you." With that, she turns away and walks towards their House. That chance meeting triggers a chain of events that set off the next few days.
