Izuku was dead asleep in his hospital bed. This he was aware of, but to the untrained eye, he would look peacefully sleeping. For as long as he could remember - ever since he was old enough to even be able to fabricate memories - Izuku has been an active lucid dreamer. At first, he thought it was his quirk, but that hope was crushed when he heard one of his elementary school bullies brag about being able to fly over vast cities, even though he was fast asleep in his bed.He never really got excited about a possible quirk after that.
He would dream about little things that made him happy. Once he was in a field, and he made little flowers grow. Small, four petaled, blue flowers. Nothing of great importance, but he liked to have the power of the small flowers in his grasp. He liked to be able to do what he wanted in this little dream world he had created. No one to bully him for being quirkless here. Once he dreamed that he was the No. 1 hero. He saved his mom from a burning house, and his father came back from 'work'. But that was back when he thought his dad was a good father.
Now he sits by his unconscious body laying ever so peaceful on the hospital bed. He can see his mother sleeping in the chair beside him, her head leaning for support on the edge of the bed. She had her hands covering her face in a criss-cross position. He wondered how his dad could ever leave such a kind and caring mother.
He glanced over at the clock, and made out the little letters. 4:07 am. He's been in the hospital since yesterday afternoon.
'Better wake up.'
Izuku's eyes snapped awake. He was laying on his bed, and he could feel the slight dip on the comforter from where his mom lay.
'Still worrisome as ever.'
He shook her shoulder and she snapped awake.
"Oh my baby. I'm glad to see you're ok."
"I'm fine, Mom. No need to worry."
"Sweetheart," Izuku's mom put her hand on her shoulder, " ᴵ ᴴᴬᵛᴱ ᴱᵛᴱᴿᵞ ᴿᴱᴬˢᴼᴺ ᵀᴼ ᵂᴼᴿᴿᵞ."
Her face contorted into something malicious. Her eyes became slits, something like tears falling out of them. Her mouth grew wider and wider until the poor skin keeping it a normal size split. Her tongue lolled out of her unhinged jaw, and many more appeared. Her forehead to her left cheek opened to rows of teeth and saliva. Her hands became black and cracked, some skin falling off onto the floor. And yet she still smiled, but not a smile of comfort. This smile sent jolts down Izuku's spine - all four smiles. Her actual mouth, the side of her face, her forearm, the one wrapping around her waist - all of them splitting open like old scars. Not this again. He wouldn't go through this again. He pinched his face, grabbed his arms, punched the wall, did anything and everything he could to show his body that this was all just a dream, but he didn't wake up. Inko turned. She looked at Izuku. How many eyes did she have now? Izuku lost count. They were all crying. Every single one was dripping with tears. Were they really tears though? She spoke to him. But not in her voice. It was his dad.
"Better wake up before you forget how."
His eyes snapped open for the second time. He looked around wildly. Mom? She's ok. Where's dad? Nowhere. The room is empty. Izuku isn't dumb. He can hypothesize what just went down, but that doesn't make it any less uncomfortable.
He doesn't like the fact that his lucid dreams could be contorted by his dad.
He didn't like he fact that his one save haven could be invaded.
He didn't like the fact that he could be killed at anytime, anywhere.

Just decided to throw Izuku as a lucid dreamer in there as a trash thought. Don't judge me. I had so many plans for this story, but I kinda veered off road and now I have no idea what I'm doing. This story is trash lmao I don't know why your still here. Have fun reading the next 1000 word long piece of trash. Asta la pasta.
