His hands were shaking - no - he would argue they weren't, because he knew his hands were definitely not shaking. He knows he shows no signs of what he knows, and yet why do people keep asking him if he is alright? He's fine. Nothings wrong.

Izuku walked down the dorm hallway. The sports festival is tomorrow, and he knows he should be sleeping by now, but he just can't. What was the point of sleeping if he just knows he'll he waken up by a nightmare, or worse - his dad. Does that count as a nightmare?

Izuku sighed into his hands. He thought he could do this. He thought he could be strong. He's weak, he now knows this. He's breaking. Everything that he knows and everything that he can get information on just makes him feel sick.

He thinks he should quit.

How would he though? He can't just walk up to a teacher and tell them he wants to leave. Can he?

He thinks he should leave.

On the off chance that he can do that, would it even work?

He thinks he shouldn't be here.

Things are so complicated now. Izuku just wants things to go back to the way things were. Just him and his mom together. Not this bitch of a dad who thinks he can walk in and own the place.

He wants to leave.

Sometimes Izuku just wants to lay down and cry. So many things have been his fault and so many things are yet to be so. Ever heard the saying 'actions speak louder than words'? Well if that's true then where did 'a pen is mightier than a sword' come from? It's a paradox. A statement that has a shred of common sense but yet yields to make sense. Izuku is a walking paradox, he knows. He's a hero on the outside. One that wants nothing more to protect and preserve. Peace is what he strives for. A smile is payment enough for him. He wants to be a hero. He always has.

He wants to disappear.

On the inside, he's breaking. His foundation is crumbling, and the balance is tipping. His sense of right and wrong have been skewered, and his smile on the outside is nothing but a concave reflection.

"Midoriya?"

He doesn't listen.

"Hey, the sports festival is tomorrow. You need to sleep."

Who's talking?

"It's really late."

What?

"Oh, sorry Kirishima. I was just going to get some water."

Concave reflection.

"No worries Midoriya! Just make sure to go back to sleep alright?"

"You got it."

A smile. A goodbye.

Listen closely. Do you hear it? The sound of crumbling walls and broke down cars. Closed roads and shattered glass.

An empty path.

Izuku Midoriya is a villain.

He wants to die.
