chapter 4

Delilah's pov

                      I woke up the next morning with puffy red eyes and a headache, I leaned against the headboard of the bed and sighed holding my head. Thinking about yesterday's drama made the pain in my head more intense.

I turned my head and looked at the clock seeing it was 7 am, getting out of bed I went inside the bathroom to take a shower, stripping out of my clothes I hopped into the shower under the hot water,which instantly relaxed my muscles . After showering I chose a outfit for my work, looking presentable. I went down where my family as usual having breakfast.

I ignored them even when my father called me, I can't face them right now, I got in my car and left to work. Reaching my office , looked at my schedule which was very hectic I have back to back meetings, presentation etc. Even though I am going to be tired today because of my schedule, atleast my mind will be clear of all the chaos happening in my life.

Two meetings later, it was lunch hour my stomach was growling as I didn't eat breakfast . But I ignored it and started looking at the emails, when there was knock on my door I said "come in" When my secretary came and said "Ms adler while you were in the meeting I got a call from Mr Kaden adler and he asked you to return his call soon".
"Okay Ms.hill, anything else?" I asked, to which she said no and left my office.

I took my phone and turned it on , as I switched it off during the meeting. I looked at it to see 5 missed calls and 7 text messages from Kaden. I know why he called me, he must have heard about the shits happening in my life.

Kaden my big brother, he was adopted when he was 10 when Nate was 7 and I was 5, he is now 28 years old. And he owns a software company which is also recognized globally. Though he is 5 years older than me, we were so close than I was with Nate. When I was 20 years old he met this girl named Leila she was gorgeous everyone adored her, she was like a goddess to everyone except me. When Kaden told me about leila I was so excited to meet her. But when we met she was so good whenever Kaden was with us and when we were alone she was so rude. After a year they got married and she still hates my guts. I couldn't tell all those to Kaden, even though she hated me everyone liked her and he loved her so much. I don't want to make things awkward for him, so I left it at that.

I sighed and called him.
Which he picked up in two rings, "Hey sweet pea!"
He said "Hi Kadey"  He sighed through the phone and said "I talked with Nate and he said what happened yesterday. I got worried, I called you so many times but you didn't pick up then I called your secretary. She told me you were in a meeting "

"Yeah sorry I switched my phone off and made you worried." I said after a few seconds of silence he asked "are you okay?" I bit my lip and tears formed in my eyes hearing his question, I shake my head and choked out a sob. When he said "let's meet at our place now please come"  I shake my head and choked out "no I can't, I have meetings".

"Cancel it, I want to talk with you. If you are not coming now then I am coming to your office and going to drag your ass there"  He said and ended the call, I know he will do what he says if I don't go there.

I called my secretary and cancelled the remaining meetings, got in my car and went to the little cafe called "sweet tooth", I walked in and the smell of coffee hit me immediately , looking around saw Kaden sitting in our usual corner table.

He saw me and I walked there, when he grabbed me in a very comforting bear hug, my eyes welled up with tears, controlling my tears, I pulled back from the hug and smiled at him.

He didn't smile and asked "how can you smile Delilah?" He only calls me delilah if he is angry or upset with me which is very rare.

I shrugged and asked "what do you want me to do?" We sat and a waiter came and we both ordered coffee, when the waiter left he looked at me and said "are you okay with this arrangement?"

"NO Kaden I am not ok with this arrangement, but does it gonna make any difference. Our parents didn't ask me they just informed me about this deal" I raised my voice saying this. He took a hold of my hand and asked "do you want me to talk with them?". I shake my head and said "it is of no use Kadey the agreement has been signed by my father and his."

I do not want Kaden to get involved in this for last 5 years there has been a drift between him and my parents,
Father wanted Kaden to run the Adler corp. but he refused and started his own company saying that it is his dream.

Father did not talk with him for over an year, since then there has been lot of problems and fighting between them eventually Kaden moved out of the house and now lives with Leila and their cute little son Logan.

I just don't want to think about it.
"I am so sorry sweet pea if I could do anything I'll definitely do it. But whatever happens I'll always be with you" he said giving me a sad smile. I smiled back when the waiter came and placed our coffee's and left.
