Coming back home every summer was something I didn't quite frankly enjoy, but I did miss my mom a lot while away at school. Especially after the rough year I had. This summer particularly, I was a little anxious about getting back. This past school year, my mom didn't call as much and when I did catch her, she was always tired and promised to call me back. She didn't even pick me up from the air port. I took an Uber home.

"Momma? I'm home. It's me Paisley where are you?...... Mom?" I called out getting no response.

I went to my room and put down the duffle bag I was carrying. By no surprise, my mom left my room untouched, just the way I left it. I know I saw mom's car outside, so where could she be.

"Momma?" I called out again getting a little worried. I headed down to her room, she wasn't there.

I walked into her bathroom when I saw the door half way opened and what I saw next, I damn sure was not prepared for.

"Momma!!! Momma are you ok, momma please!"

My mom was on the bathroom floor in her robe skin three shades lighter than normal. Scared was an understatement. I instantly took my phone out and called 911.

"911 what is your emergency?"

"Yes hello! Its my mom, she's on the floor in the bathroom, I don't know what's wrong. She's cold. Please help me please!" I said with tears in my eyes.

"Ok sweety, I need you to calm down for me and tell me your address, I'll get someone there as soon as possible."

"I live on 920 N Manor Ln. Please hurry I think she's dying." I answered quickly hoping that'll make them respond faster.

"Ok, an ambulance is headed to your house now. They should arrive in 8-10 minutes. Tell me is your mom still breathing or responsive at all?"

"Yes I think she's still breathing but she's not responsive. She's becoming really pale." I explained.

"Alright just try to stay calm sweetheart, help is on the way." She stated trying to sound reassuring.

"Ok thank you." I responded before ending the call.

"Oh momma please, stay with me." I lifted her head and placed it on my lap.

"I love you momma. I love you so much, and I'm sorry for not coming home much or talking to you as much as I should. I'm sorry for being mad at you all these years. I'm so sorry, just please, please don't leave me." I started to cry even harder.

"Hello is there anybody home, it's the police." I heard a man call out from downstairs.

"Yes! Yes! We're in here, hurry it's my mom".

I saw a police officer and two EMT's enter the bathroom and they instantly went to tending to my mom.

"Does she have any know medical issues that you're aware of?" The first EMT asked me.

"No. None that I know of." Right then and there I felt a feeling of regret. I never once asked my mom how was she doing health wise. I just always assumed she was fine. I can now see I was awfully wrong.
