Chapter 21
(Eva)
3 Years Later
Eva stared down at the almost lifeless body of her once lively friend. She had been in a coma for so long, it was looking as if she weren’t going to wake up. The doctors had done everything they could do to keep her comfortable, but the look of pain had never left her face since she had entered the hospital and Eva knew it probably wasn’t going to fade anytime soon. She just hoped her friend would wake up soon, not just for her sake but for everyone else’s too.
“How’s she look?” a deep voice asked quietly and Eva glanced over her shoulder, seeing Mitchell standing in the doorway with his hands in the pockets of his jeans. His no longer looked like the man Eva once knew. Instead he looked far more mature and older, like his age had doubled. Instead he had taken the position of Alpha of their pack. After Evan had sadly passed away a few months ago, Mitchell was appointed the new Alpha. He had been trying to make their pack stronger ever since. They had managed to convince the Alpha King to allow them to expand their small territory and were now making new homes for their residents, unable to keep them all in the cabin.
“Like she’s dying.” Eva mumbled, gently brushing a strand of red hair from her friends face. The girl didn’t react to Eva’s touch and Eva sighed, rapidly blinking to keep the tears from falling.
“That’s because she it.” Mitchell said quietly, stepping into the room. He wrapped his arms around Eva, resting his chin on her shoulder. Eva frowned at his reply, not liking how he had said it in such a dead tone.
“She’ll be fine. I know she will be.” Eva retorted, prying herself out of Mitchell’s arms. Mitchell growled but Eva ignored him, keeping her eyes on her friend. She and Mitchell had been getting into more and more fights since he had become Alpha and Eva was getting tired of it. She knew he was only trying to help her but his words were becoming more pessimistic by the day and she didn’t want to hear it.
“She shot herself, Eva. She put a silver bullet through her brain, there is no way she’ll be fine. She’s going to die.” Mitchell snapped and Eva whipped around to glare at him.
“She had a name, Mitchell! Her name is Leah! Don’t pretend she doesn’t have one anymore!” Eva snarled, baring her canines. Mitchell narrowed his eyes, a growl rumbling in his chest. Eva watched as his eyes darkened and she instantly knew she shouldn’t have gotten him so angry.
“Leah isn’t going to wake up! She’s dead!!! She won’t ever-….” Mitchell suddenly cut off, his eyes returning back to their original color before he spoke in a soft tone, “He’s here.” Eva was confused for a moment before she realized when he was talking about. Her blood ran cold and her hands instantly went to her stomach. She was four weeks pregnant with Mitchell’s pup, showing slightly. Werewolves were only pregnant for 3-4 months instead of being pregnant for 8-10 months like an average human.
