Chapter 1 - Eva

(Eva)

The sun made the dew on the grass glitter, giving it a glowing affect. The warm summer's breeze made Eva's hair shift on her shoulders and she sighed in content, breathing in the welcoming scents around her. Two strong arms were wrapped around her, holding her close to a muscular chest. Eva placed her hands over the masculine ones holding her, feeling ever crease and scar there was on his skin. His touch just soothed her in a way nothing else could.

"What are you thinking about, Princess?" Mitchell's soft voice whispered in Eva's ear, his hands running up and down her arms. Eva was sitting between his legs, his back leaning against a tree. The two of them were able to see the multiple houses from where they sat, assuring that they could keep an eye on their pack while still relaxing at the same time. There had been so much pressure on the two, it was obvious they were in need of a break.

Rogue wolves had been spotted on the outskirts of neutral land. Though they were allowed on the land, these rogues obviously had no good intentions. Mitchell was doing his best to negotiate with them but every wolf he had seen was either overly aggressive or refused to speak. If they had wanted into the pack them they would have said so. they had made their intentions clear and now all Mitchell could do was keep them out.

"You...the pack...Madi." Eva answered, turning slightly so she could look up at him. Mitchell grinned, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.

"All good things, I hope." Mitchell joked, winking at her. His green eyes were glowing with the love and adoration that Eva craved. She needed him to love her just as he needed her to love him. The amount of dependence the two had was like that of true mates.

"Mostly." Eva answered, laughing when Mitchell growled playfully and adding, "Just worried about the rogues." Just the thought of one of the rogues harming a wolf in the pack angered Eva. She cared for her pack and she vowed to keep them all safe.

"We're out here to relax, Eva. Don't worry too much about that right now." Mitchell ordered, scrunching his eyebrows. He was looking out at the treelike, his green eyes narrowed angrily. He looked like he was watching for something to pop out and attack them. Eva rolled her eyes, grabbing his face and forcing him to look down at her. He tried to flick his eyes back up but Eva flicked his forehead, glaring at him.

"Like you said, we're here to relax. We can deal with rogues some other time." Eva repeated his words, smiling reassuringly at him. Mitchell was silent for a moment before nodding, leaning down and gently pressing his lips against hers.

"What would I do without you?" Mitchell asked softly when they pulled apart and Eva giggled.

"Flail helplessly with Madison." Eva answered, smiling at him. Mitchell laughed loudly, shaking his head.

"I love you." Mitchell chuckled, kissing Eva again. She smiled into the kiss, interlacing her fingers with his.

"I love you, too." Eva whispered against his lips when they pulled apart for a moment. Mitchell gave her one last light kiss before resting his head back against the tree, a smile on his handsome face. Eva flipped over, crawling up onto his lap and straddling him. She rested her ear on his chest, listening to his strong beating heart. Mitchell lazily ran his fingers up and down her back, the smile still on his face.

Mitchell suddenly stiffened, making Eva's eyes widen. She sat up, looking at him in confusion. He had a far away look in his eyes, signaling that he had been contacted by someone in the pack. Mitchell gently took Eva off his lap, getting up and dusting off his jeans. He straightened his button up before offering a hand to Eva, not saying a word. Eva remained silent, taking his hand and letting him help her up. Mitchell didn't release Eva's hand, gently pulling her toward the main house. Eva just stared blankly at his back, knowing she probably wasn't going to be getting answers even if she asked. She may have been the Luna but Mitchell was still very secretive with her. It was his way of protecting her.
