Chapter 3 it's been so long/The ruins

Brody's POV

I groan slowly opening my eyes sitting up and I see sitting infront of me....another me? "Hey took you long enough" the other me said, he was wearing the same clothes as mine but he also had a black top hat and had white scarf around him "The name's well Brody is correct but don't call me that instead call me Arsene" Arsene said "Arsene?" I asked "Yeah. I'm the rebel soul that rests within you. This look isn't my real appereance but you aren't ready for my strenght so this will do" Arsene said and I looked around seeing we where in a black space "I'm....dead?" I asked remembering the humans attacking Asriel "Yes.....and no you can still come back but allow me to explain" Arsene said standing up "Your soul is unique. Is a determination soul pretty rare, this place is the save room your soul allows you to save, load or reset at your will" Arsene said and I stood up "Oh? But my soul" I said "I know Asriel had it but when you two.....you know. The shards came back to you, I've been havong a real pain in the-I mean a hard time putting the pieces back together but now we can come back" he said and extends his hand "What do you say? Ready to free the monsters?" He asked and I hesitated before shaking hands with him "I'm a part of you. Therefore only you can see me once we wake up so avoid talking woth me in public. Just press that button over there" Arsene said pointing at a floatong button that said CONTINUE so I nodded and went over there pressing it.

I open my eyes seeing I'm laying on a golden flower bed as I stand up I noticed my clothes are dirty "Oh yeah forgot to tell you you were buried. But I saved you the problem of digging yourself out" Arsene said in my head "Thanks" I said as I walk to the next room to see a golden flower.....that can talk "Oh howdy you must be-" the flower stopped mid-sentence his smile turned into a suprised look "Howdy what's your name?" I asked the flower "I-Uh...As-Flowey!" Flowey said smiling nervously "Hi Flowey I'm Brody" I said "Y-yeah um you should be dead-F-from what I heard!" He said "It's complicated, I still don't fully get it" I said "I-I-I.....gotta go!" He said dissapearing into the ground "Oh my have you fallen down-......W-wait my child?" I heard a familiar voice said and I look up seeing mom in happy tears "Mom!" I said rushing to her and she picked me up hugging me tightly and I hug back happy "O-Oh my child it's you? Is it really you?" She asked "Yes mom it's me!" I said "But how?" She asked "I don't know" I said 'I didn't speak rocket science' Arsene said in my head "That doesn't matter. What matter is that you're back" Mom said setting me down "Oh my you are dirty" she said "Oh yeah Ar-I had to dig my way out" I said rubbing the back of my neck "It's alright let's just go home" she said gently holding my hand and I nodded as she guided me.

*Later*

Mom took me by some puzzles I haven't seen before but that's not the biggest shock I had today, Mom said it's been a few years since I've been dead amd that she and dad got into a fight and now she lives in the ruins by herself and that 6 humans kids have fallen down and dad killed them as he wanted to bring fight for the humans for what happened to me and Asriel.

Mom said she'll go clean the house in the ruins and told me to wait and gave me a cellphone and the second she left Arsene started talking again "Yeah a lot has happen, but thanks to those 6 humans I managed to bring you back" he said "What do you mean?" I asked "Well each of them who fell had these small determination fragments on their souls, not enough to bring them back should they die, so I took those fragments and used them to piece your soul back together" Arsene explained "Oh" I said "Well what are you waiting for? Go back to the house" He said "But mom said" I said "You are not new here let's just go" Arsene said vanishing, he's not wrong so I started walking.

I had encounters here or there.....which mostly ends in the froggits or whismuns or any monsters of the ruins being happy of my return. I also met a ghost, Napstablook he's cool to hang with and pretty shy after some small chat he left as I arrived to the house of the ruins, mom said she was preparing butterscotch pie fot me and so told me to take a bath, change and rest while it's being made.

After all that I was back in clean clothes and after a good rest I found a pie slice so I took it and ate it, man I really missed eating. I grabbed my old backpack and startes packing to leave, I can't leave things as they are "She's not gonna let you leave" Arsene said "Huh? Why not?" I asked confused "You think she's gonna let you leave after you just came back?" Arsene asked but I think he's overthinking it.....I couldn't be more wrong, when I told mom I wanted to leave she kept trying to change the subject till she went downstairs "You gotta stop her or else you'll be locked here" Arsene said as I grabbed my bag and make my way downstairs.

"Every human that has fallen down after your death meets the same fate" Mom said not looking at me "They come, they leave and they die" she said "I'm protecting you Brody. Please understand" Mom said goimg further to the door but I kept following, even if she means well I can't leave things as they are "You want to leave that much?" Mom asked with a sigh as she blocked my way to the door "then there is only one solution" Mom said "Prove it to me. Prove me you are strong to survive" she said as we enter a encounter.

I tried talking but I can't think of anything to say "You can't talk your way out of this one" Arsene said 'But I refuse to-' I was saying in my head "Relax I wouldn't suggest you to fight. All I'm saying she's being stubborn, you have to be more stubborn and determined" Arsene said pointing at the MERCY button and I nodded as I spare her, she didn't say anything but I kept doing it till she starts talking again "What are you doing?" Mom asked as she attacked and I dodged and spared again "Attack or run away!" she said as I dodge her attacks and I spare again "What are you proving with this my child?" Mom asked "That I can pass without fighting" I said as I dodged and spare again "Fight me or leave!" She said "No!" I said dodging again and spare again "Stop it" she said, Arsene is right I can't talk my way out of this but it doesn't mean I can't find anpther way to do this peacefully "Stop looking at me likr that" She said looking away as I spare again "Go away!" She said "I won't!" I said, not like this I refuse to sit back "..." Mom stayed silent as her expression saddens "I know you want to talk it out with your dad but....." Mom said "It's my fault" I said "No it's not Brody. Please.....just go upstairs" She said "I can't not like this" I said "I promise I will take good care of you just like before" She said "Mom...." I said "I know we don't have much here but...." She said "You know I won't stop" I said "Why are you making it so diffucult?" She asked, why? Honestly I don't know how to answer that, I guess I'm that determined, 6 kids died because of me I got to make right "Please go upstairs" Mom said "I won't" I said ".....Haha" she said and I look at her confused "Pathetic is it not?" Mom asled "Huh?" I said confused "I got my child back and I can't save him. I couldn't save any of those 6 poor childs" Mom said "I...I can take care mom trust me" I said and she sighs "No I understand. I can't nor should I force you to listen to me. You are a free spirit my child, you don't hesitate and you can make tough choices" She said "Mom..." I said "I'll do what a mother should do and have faith in my child" Mom said "Mom........" I said as she spared me "If you truly wish to make things right. If you are confident you can make a change. I will not stop you" She said "Thank you mom. I promise I'll call" I said "Oh my child" she said and kneeled down hugging me and I hug back "good luck my child. Stay determined" she said standing up walking back upstairs "better not let her down" Arsene said "I won't" I said as I go through the door.

"I gotta say. You sure impress me" I heard Flowey's voice and I look at him "Huh?" I asked "It really is you.......well even if you made it past her your mercy it's pointless You want to make it to Asgore you'll need LV" Flowey said "What? No! I won't do that!" I said "Stop being stupid! You died because of those humans and you refused to fight back! You didn't told m-Asriel to fight back!" Flowey said "Because that's not what we wanted!" I said angry "heheheheHahahahahaahaha! Sorry Brody but it doesn't work lime that." Flowey said "In this world it's kill or be killed! You'll learn that soon enough!" Flowey said laughing insanely and dissapeared in the ground "Talk about a messed up flower" Arsene said "Let's....just go" I said walking to the big door and opened it ready to venture to snowdin but first I need to save.
