Chapter 9 Someone cares about you and the core

Brody's POV

I see the entrance to the MTT resort and Sans was outside "Hey kid. I heard you're going to the core" Sans said "how about grabbing some dinner with me first?" He asked "sure Sans" I said "Great kid thanks" Sans said walking to an alleway "Over here. I know a shortcut" Sans said and I followed himand we soon were sitting in a table in the resort. "Well here we are. So your journey's almost over huh?" Sans asked "You must really want to see your dad" he said "Hey. I know the feeling buddo. Though...maybe you should think if everything is going right" Sans said "What do you mean?" I asked "....ah, forget it I'm rootin' for ya kid" he said "Hey. Let me tell you a story. So I'm a sentry in snowdin forest, right? I sit out there and watch for humans. It's kind of boring" Sans said "fortunately, deep in the forest....there's this HUGE locked door and it's perfect for practicing knock knock jokes. So one day I'm knocking 'em out, like usual. I knock on the door and say 'knock knock'. And suddenly, from the other side....I hear a woman's voice 'who is there?' " Sans said 'mom' I thought "so naturally, I respond: 'dishes' 'dishes who?' 'Dishes a very bad joke' then she just howls with laughter, like it's the best joke she's heard in a hundred years. So I keep 'em coming, and she keeps laughing she's the best audience I've ever had" Sans said "then, after a dozen of 'em SHE knocks and says...'knock knock' I say 'Who's there?' 'Old lady!' 'Old lady who?' 'Oh! I did not know you could yodel!'. Wow needless to say, this woman was extremely good" Sans said "we kept telling each other jokes for hours. Eventually, I had to leave, papyrus gets kind of cranky without his bedtime story. But she told me to come by again, and so I did, then I did it again and again. It's a thing now, tellingnbad jokes through the door. It rules" Sans said "....one day though, I noticed she wasn't laughing very much. I asied her what was up then she told me something strange. 'If the human prince Brody ever comes through this door....could you please, please promise me something?' 'Watch over him, and protect him will you not?' Now, I hate making promises. And this woman, I don't even know her name but...someone who sincerely likes bad jokes....has an integrity you can't say 'no' to" Sans said "know what I'm saying kid? Take care of yourself 'cause someone really cares about you" sans said "See you later" he said leaving 'mom...thanks' I thought and left the hotel heading to the core.

*Minutes of talking with monsters, contemplating Burgerpants life choices, buying a key from bratty and catty and finding the right way later*

I finally arrived to the door and go through and find Mettaton waiting for me in the center "OH YES, THERE YOU ARE PRINCE!" Mettaton said "IT'S TIME FOR THE CLIMAX OF THE SHOW" He said "BUT LET ME TELL YOU. ALL OF THIS WAS JUST A BIG SETUP. AN ACT. ALPHYS HAS BEEN PLAYIMG YOU FOR A FOOL THE WHOLE TIME" Mettaton said "AS SHE WATCHED YOU ON THE SCREEN, SHE GREW ATTACHED TO YOUR ADVENTURE. SHE DESPERATELY WANTED TO BE PART OF IT" He said "SO SHE DECIDED TO INSTERT HERSELF INTO YOUR STORY. SHE REACTIVATED PUZZLES AND DISABLED ELEVATORS" he said "ALL SO SHE COULD SAVE YOU FROM DANGERS THAT DIDN'T EXIST" Mettaton said "ALL SO YOU WOULD THINK SHE'S THE GREAT PERSON...THAT SHE'S NOT" he said "AND NOW IT'S TIME FIR HER FINEST HOUR. AT THIS VERY MOMENT, ALPHYS IS WAITING OUTSIDE THE ROOM. DURING OUR 'BATTLE' SHE WILL INTERRUPT" He said "SHE WILL PRETEND TO 'DEACTIVATE' ME, 'SAVING' YOU ONE FINAL TIME" Mettaton said "FINALLY. SHE'LL BE THE HEROINE OF YOUR ADVENTURE.... OR NOT" he said "I HAVE NO DESIRE TO HARM HUMANS FAR FROM IT ACTUALLY" Mettaton said "MY ONLY DESIRE IS TO ENTERTAIN. AFTER ALL, THE AUDIENCE DESERVES A GOOD "SHOW DON'T THEY?" He asked "AND WHAT'S A GOOD SHOW....WITHOUT A PLOT TWIST?" Mettaton asked pressing a button and the door behind me close and I soon hear knocking from the other side "H-hey!!! Wh-what's going on there?!?" I heard Alphys asked 'she did set this up' I thought "SORRY FOLKS! THE OLD PROGRAM IS CANCELLED!!!" Mettaton said as the floor under us lights "BUT THE PRINCE AND I HAVE A FINALE THAT WILL DRIVE YOU WILD!!!" He said as the platform we were on rise up high "REAL DRAMA! REAL ACTION! REAL BLOODSHEED! THE STAGE IS YOURS BRODY SHOW THE AUDIENCE WHAT YOU ARE MADE OFF!!" Mettaton said as we entered an encounter.

"YES BRODY, I REACTIVATED THE PUZZLES, I SET THE STAGE JUST FOR US AND WITHOUT ALPHYS THIS WILL BE FABULOUS" Mettaton said and started attacking me and I was gonna shoot him with my yellow state 'If Alphs planned it all then this is fake' I thought however when I shot Mettaton he stepped back "SORRY DARLING BUT YOUR MAGIC IS NOT ALPHYS DOING! YOU ARE ACTUALLY SHOOTING BULLETS!" Mettaton said as if reading my mind "I'm sorry" I said "NONSENSE! THIS BODY IS RESISTANT YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG PRINCE" he said when my phone rings and I take it "H-hey listen. Brody there's a fast way to beat Mettaton" Alphys said "There's a switch on Mettaton's back, get him to turn around" Alphys said hanging up 'how am I gonna get him to turn around?' I thought 'Tell him there's a mirror behind him' Arsene said.

"Hey Mettaton! There's a mirror behind you!" I said "OH???? A MIRROR?????" He asked "YOU ARE RIGHT! I MUST LOOK FABULOUS FOR THE SHOW" He said turning around "HMMM...I DON'T SEE IT....WHERE IS IT?" He asked and I quickly run up to him flipping the switch on his back "DID YOU. JUST FLIPPED. MY SWITCH?" He asked and started shaking as I stepped back and I cover my eyes at a flash that happens and I hear "Oh yes" that was Mettaton? But it doesn't sound robotic. "Oh my. If you flipped my switch that can only mean one thing" he said "You're thrilling for the premier of my new body" He said, what? "How rude. But I've been dying to show off this form. So as A thanks" Mettaton said "Let's make this......absolutely glamorous!" He said as the smoke cleared and I could see his new form, he was more human like.

I then see a ratings chart that's 3991 'What now?' I ask 'Just do it' Arsene said 'What?' I ask 'Just let yourself go and get him views. Give a great performance' Arsene said....a great performance.....hmmm okay.

So this wasn't really a fight anymore as all I kept doing was pose, dance and just went with the flow.....it felt really natural somehow and after a while and hearing praises from Mettaton the views stacked to 15000 "Ohh! Look at these ratings!!" Mettaton said in awe "Simply marvelous prince! It's the biggest amount I've had" Mettaton said 'Heh told you you got this' Arsene and I blushed  flustered 'I-it was nothing' I said "We've reached the viewer call-in milestone" Mettaton said "One lucky viewer will have the chance to talk to me...before leaving" he said and we heared a ring and Mettaton picked up "Hi. You are on TV!" He said and to our suprise it was Napstablook. "Oh.... hi.... Mettaton..... I really liked watching your show. My life is pretty boring.....but....." He said "seeing you on the screen....brought excitment in my life.....I'll miss you Mettaton....oh.....I'm sorry for taking so much time....bye" he said hanging up "No wait! Wait blook-H....they already hung up" Mettaton said "No worries I'll take another caller!" Mettaton said as more monsters expressed how they'll miss Mettaton if he left the underground "Ah....I see....Everyone.....Thank you!" Mettaton said then looked at me "Brody. Perhaps....it's better if I stay. Humans already have stars and idols but the monsters only have me" Mettatin said and I nodded smiling "Besides. I trust you, I know you'll make the right choice and reach the best outcome" he said ".....the truth is the battery energy of this form is...inneficient, in a few more moments I'll turn off but I'll be alright. Do your best darling" Mettaton said shutting off collapsing on the floor "I....I managed to open the lock!" Alphys said entering "oh my god" she said rushing to Mettaton "Mettaton! Mettaton are you...thank god, it's just the batteries" she said relaxed "why don't you go on ahead?" Alphys asked and I nodded and walked foward.

"S-sorry about that.....let's keep going!" Alphys said catching up to me and we walked till we reached the elevator that will take me to the castle and as I entered Alphys spoke "Brody....I mean Prince Brody, I-I....I'm sorry" Alphys said running off "Alphys..." I muttered as the door close before I could leave so I pressed the button and head up.

Once the elevator stopped I stepped out and saw a save point.

*Giving Mettaton and the entire underground a great perfomance and finally being in new home. Fills you with determination
