Grayheart's POV:
Pfffft! Why do I need to ever listen to Blazewhisker anymore? He gave himself his warrior name, and he doesn't even live in a clan! That would've been on the warrior code but it isn't. I wish it was, though.
I don't need him as a friend anymore. I have already made a new friend.
So, it's passed moons. During the time, this rogue she-cat around my age has joined the clan. Her name was Luna. But Firestar has renamed her to Moonwhisper. She became my friend after that. A perfect replacement for my brother as a friend. Am I right?
I, right now, is stalking for prey in the forest alone. I told Firestar that if I did it alone, I would concentrate more. He agreed. Now I had scented the fresh tang of mouse. Then I crouched, alert in all my senses.
"Hey, Grayheart! What're you doing here?" I heard a voice from behind me. Then I spun around and smiled.
"Oh, Moonwhisper! Hi!"
"Hi," Then she looked around and raised her nose. "Oh, no! I haven't distracted you from your hunt, have I?"
"No, no. You're good. I didn't even get to see the creature yet!"
Then she broke out with a burst of laughter. "Of course! So, what're your plans for today? Any news about your brother?"
Yes, my brother. Then I froze. I had told her about that because she was my friend. Couldn't keep anything from her. "N-- No," I lied. Why did I think up a lie in this situation?
"Okay," She believes me! "Want to hunt together?"
Hunting with her was my dream! "Of-- Of course I would want to hunt with you!" I answered.
"Okay," Then she sniffed. "Back to catching that mouse, eh?" She brightened her sky-blue eyes.
"Sure," I purred.
So then we came back with only no more than a mouse. Prey is getting scarce. At least we worked together to get it. Then we set it over to the pile. We'll have to learn to survive this leafbare.
Then we began to share a small scrawny shrew, my gray pelt brushing her silver one. But then a yowl broke out. "We have greencough!"
Greencough! Life-sucking plague! But-- Who's sick? I then walk into the medicine den. I look onto the hard ground to see the gray, dark gray, and white she-cat laying on her side taking rasp, shallow breaths. Then I widened my eyes immediately. "Mother!"
