Blazepaw's POV:

I watched in saddness as my brother walked away and then disappeared. Bye, Graypaw. Wait, hold my whiskers... Why am I even saying bye? I have my own life now, and he has his. I don't need him anymore. But is what I said to him, right? Do I really agree with myself?

I guess I do. Life here is great. All the cats listen to me. They're always like, 'Okay, Blazepaw. If you wish,' and 'Okay, don't punish me, Blazepaw.'. I don't need Graypaw to have a nice time if I have these cats.

"May I check for tresspassers?" Blossom's voice interrupted my thoughts.

"Of course. And make sure my brother has completely left and hadn't left his stinkin' scent behind." I told her.

"Thank you,"

See? They ask me to do anything and not themselves. Is this how Firestar always felt? 'Cause it feels great! "Hey, Thistle!" I mewed to the gray and white she-cat below from where I was standing.

"Yes?" She mewed.

"Can you go with Blossom? If there was an attack, we'll need more cats."

"Why can't you send out a whole patrol instead?"

"Because... If anything attacks you two, one of you can keep fighting while the other comes and brings help quickly. We don't need a patrol of cats to get hurt all at once."

"Great idea! I like the way you think! I can see why they made you leader," Then she bounded after Blossom.

I like how I work here. I give cats more freedom that they had imagined.

Then Blossom and Thistle returned with another cat behind them.

"Who's this?" I asked.

"You don't know! Graypaw told me what happened. I'm disappointed in you,"

Oh, no!
