it had been one month since cheryl blossom and toni topaz found out that they were having twins.
"do you think they'll be boys or girls or both?" cheryl asked, pulling her shirt up just enough to show her growing stomach. "i have no idea, and i don't have a preference either. i just want them to be healthy." toni smiled, leaning down to kiss the small baby bump. "i agree." cheryl smiled, playing with her hands nervously. "what's on your head, red?" toni asked, placing her hand on both of cheryl's. "lots." she whispered. "care to elaborate?" toni asked softly. "what if they're not healthy?" the redhead pursed her lips. "cher-." toni began to respond, but was interrupted by her girlfriend. "i don't think i can handle loosing a child." cheryl intercepted the conversation. "what if they blame me for being ill?" she continued. "what if they're constantly in pain?" she suddenly sobbed loudly. "hey, hey, hey. shh, it's okay. they won't blame you for something you can't control, honey. they'll be too clever to do something so dumb." toni stroked cheryl's hair, with her free hand. "okay, sorry." the ginger breathed shakily.
"don't apologize." toni chuckled warmly.***
time flew by and before the couple knew it, cheryl was six months pregnant.
"cher, jason says that we should probably go shopping for clothes and stuff." toni came down the stairs, her eyes glued to her phone. "we did that last month, t." cheryl looked up from the kitchen table. "oh yeah, true. we kind of didn't get lots though." toni gestured to the two cribs and buckets of paint. "touché. do you want to go buy toys and clothes?" cheryl stood up, her baby bump clearly showing. "yes!" toni grinned excitedly, running to the hallway. "you're still a child, i don't know how you're going to be able to look after two." cheryl shook her head amusingly. "ah, shut up." toni smirked.
"let's go then." cheryl opened the door and stepping out into he august heat. "i'm guessing we're driving." toni giggled at cheryl's bump. "we better be." cheryl scoffed, walking over to the car. "sorry." toni laughed, locking the house door and skipping over to open the door for cheryl. "i'm pregnant, not useless." cheryl reminded her. "babe, i've opened doors for you years before you got pregnant." toni smirked, walking around the car to the driver's seat. "true." cheryl smiled as toni got into the car and placed her free hand on the inside of cheryl's thigh, using her other to start the engine and revise out of the driveway.***
when they arrived at the baby and toddler shop, toni insisted that they went to look for sports clothes.
"toni, they're gonna need baby clothes before sports clothes. what if they don't even want to play sports?" cheryl groaned, following her girlfriend to the sporting isle. "i love sports, our kids will too." toni explained, picking up a miniature basketball. "don't expect anything from them, toni." cheryl sighed.
"yeah, i know, but we can still at least but them." toni smiled, throwing the basketball to her girlfriend. "just in case?" toni tried to persuade the redhead.
"fine." cheryl chuckled at her girlfriend's childishness. "what sports? i'm thinking basketball, football, lacrosse and american football." toni smiled. "whatever you want, t." cheryl sighed happily, walking over to the football shirts. "you like football?" toni quirked her eyebrow, looking at cheryl adoringly. "we always had english family over and they'd love it." cheryl reminisced on her childhood days. "let's get one thing clear, 'soccer' is football and 'football' is american football. deal?" toni grabbed a football and an american football from the balls section. "of course." cheryl laughed, pushing her glasses up the crook of her nose. "hey, babe, watch this." toni bit her lip as she picked the basketball back up. "oh god, toni don't break anything." cheryl giggled, watching her girlfriend dunk the ball. "i won't." toni winked as she ran after the ball."sorry, sir." toni apologized, picking the ball up from a man's feet that it had rolled over to.
"toni?" a familiar voice asked as toni stood back up.
"oh my god... fangs?" toni's eyes widened.
"hey..." fangs awkwardly scratched the back of his head. "i'm kevin." the man that was stood next to fangs held his hand out. "i'm toni." toni shook her hand. "oh! topaz! you and fangs still good?" kevin asked, gesturing between the two. "high school friends." toni looked behind her to see cheryl getting all types of sport clothes and balls. "is that cheryl?" fangs asked, following toni's gaze. "don't go near her." toni warned, staring daggers at the boy.
"look, toni, i'm really sorry-." fangs began to apologize. "'sorry' doesn't change the fact that you bullied my girlfriend for years." toni rolled her eyes. "you did it too." fangs whispered, sighing.
"yeah, but after i came out, you all left me." toni held back tears. "i didn't want to toni." fangs looked honestly into her eyes. "hey babe." cheryl appeared by toni's side. "hi." toni whispered, looking down again. "oh..." cheryl looked up to see her past tormentor. "cheryl i'm so sorry for what i did." fangs quickly apologized before toni could interrupt. "i was a stupid, closeted, idiotic dick and i picked on you because i was honestly jealous of you." fangs tried to bite back tears. "it's okay." cheryl whispered, stepping backwards. "it's really not though." fangs shook his head, a tear slipping from his eye, but quickly caught by his shaking hands. out of nowhere, cheryl hugged the boy, letting her own tears fall. "i forgive you fangs. there's no point in holding something against you forever. we were all hormone little shits." cheryl sniffled, pulling away from the hug. "thank you." fangs wiped another one of his tears before holding kevin's hand again. "this is kevin, my boyfriend." fangs sighed shakily.
"kevin keller?" cheryl asked, her eyes widening.
"that's me." the man smiled softly at the redhead. "you made the ship-name choni!" cheryl giggled, holding toni's hand, who was extremely quiet.
"yeah, i did." kevin chuckled, remembering his high school years. "i'm assuming you're pregnant." kevin glanced at cheryl's bump. "twins." cheryl smiled, holding her stomach. "we're adopting." fangs tapped on his shopping cart that was filled with baby toys and clothes. "a girl or a boy?" toni asked nearly silently. "a girl." fangs smiled warmly back, receiving a smile from toni in exchange. "do you guys know the gender of your twins?" kevin asked.
"no, we're waiting for a surprise." cheryl smiled.
"i'm guessing they're going to athletic?" kevin inferred from the contents on cheryl's cart. "according to toni they will be." cheryl nodded.
"we should probably get going, we've got to be meeting sweetpea in ten minutes." kevin sighed.
"take my number." toni quickly scribbled it down on a piece of paper on a receipt that was in her pocket and a pen then she had scrambled out from cheryl's bag. she then gave fangs the number and both couples said their goodbyes, fangs and kevin walking out of the isle, leaving toni and cheryl in silence.***
after cheryl and toni had got back home from their eventful shopping trip, they placed their bags upon bags on the floor and headed straight upstairs, seeing as it was half past eight and they were shattered.
after brushing their teeth and washing their faces, they collapsed in bed.
"hey, cheryl?" toni whispered, rolling over onto her side. "yes toni?" cheryl rolled onto her side too, now facing her girlfriend. "are you okay? you know..." toni hinted at the situation earlier that day. "mhmm. i feel like i needed it. closure, you could say." cheryl nodded.
toni looked her right in the eyes and saw no trace of dishonesty, so she leant forwards and kissed her cheek.
"okay. i love you." toni lay her head on cheryl's chest. "and i love guys too." toni kissed cheryl's stomach. "we love you too, t." cheryl giggled softly, pulling toni back down onto her chest. "night, baby." toni yawned. "night, topaz." cheryl sighed contently
