"toni!" cheryl whisper-yelled at her girlfriend at the other side of the room. "hm?" toni looked up from her phone to see her seven month old daughter stood up, using nothing to balance herself with. "oh my god." toni gasped quietly, trying not to distract lauren as she put her foot out.

lauren and eilish had been standing up for a couple of weeks now, using the support of anything and everything they could get their hands on, but never by themselves.

they had been told that ollie didn't stand up until his tenth month and that he hadn't walked properly until his eleventh, so eilish and lauren were pretty ahead of their time, even though they should only be four months old due to their prematurity.

they had been cleared for all illnesses and weakness in their second month, which was outstanding for three months premature kids, especially twins.

"come here lauren." cheryl cooed at her daughter. "come to mummy." she reached her hands out and grabbed the air, beckoning lauren.

lauren stood still and giggled, turning to look at toni who was hesitantly walking over to cheryl.

"mmmm." she hummed as she stood her arms out for balance and lifted her foot in the air.

"should i go near her in case she falls?" cheryl asked toni concernedly. "nah, she'll be fine on carpet." toni shook her head. "are you sure?" cheryl asked nervously, staring wide-eyed at her daughter. "mhm, the carpet's soft and doesn't have anything sharp on it." toni assured her fiancée, carefully sitting down beside her. "come to mummy, lo." cheryl smiled, her heart racing in fear that lauren would get hurt.

lauren raised a foot and heavily placed it down a few center meters away from it's original place.

"good girl, lauren." toni clapped her hands together. "come to mama." the brunette continued quietly.

lauren then moved her other foot forwards, but misplaced it and collapsed onto the floor.

cheryl lunged forwards, but toni held her back.

"toni!" cheryl tried to help her daughter, but the other girl's hold was too strong to let her go. "let me go." cheryl pushed toni back, but toni was adamant to keep a grip on the redhead.

"cheryl, she's not hurt." toni whispered into her ear.
"yes she is!" the ginger argued back, turning her head to face lauren, who was getting back up. "no she's not." toni stroked cheryl's arm softly.
seeing that their daughter was perfectly fine, cheryl relaxed into toni's arms. "sorry." she whispered, placing her hand onto toni's thigh. "it's okay, baby. i know that you don't want them to get hurt, and obviously neither do i, but if we raise them to always be shielded from pain, they'll grow to be scared of everything." toni kissed her fiancés temple soothingly. "you're right, i'm sorry." cheryl replied, sighing heavily. "don't apologize, you were just trying to protect your kid. it's any parent's natural reaction." the brunette shrugged, burying her nose into red hair, the pair both closing their eyes.

they sat in a bliss calmness for about ten seconds until cheryl felt something slap her shoulder.

she looked up to see lauren grinning widely from cheek to cheek.

she had walked to then.

"tt..." cheryl whispered, catching the attention of toni topaz. "good girl, lo!" toni gasped loudly after she had opened her eyes and saw her daughter. "you're such a clever girl." she giggled, picking her up and spinning around with her.
