Evanna walked in to see a man much larger than any human she'd ever seen. He boomed a laugh when she entered.
"Who are you?" Evanna asked the god-like man who reminded her of Ghost of Christmas Past.
"I'm anyone you want me to be. For I have no name, no definition, nothing to know me by. You are a time angle Evanna. The first time angle was banished to a realm and a pre-life. She did not get to choose. So she didn't save anyone. That is why you, Evanna, were created. To save the day of your last realm, or time period, Salem in the 1600's. But we realize we can't force you into saving the world, but we know you can. So after we banished time angle one to Salem, as a last resort, she settled with a man and had a family. You are designed to save Salem in replacement of the first angle. But now you choose: Do you wish to live in the present, or past?"
"I-"
"Let me demonstrate. Past-" My dress turned to ashes and I wore rags as clothes. "Present-" the rose Jack gave me turned to dusty dirt.
"You just made this so much harder." I whimpered.
"I'm not here to make it easy." he said.
"I don't know-"
"Evanna?" he inquired impatiently.
"I don't-"
"Well?" he snapped.
"I DON'T KNOW!" I exploded.
"Well, well. Feisty! Down! Down girl!" he teased.
"Stop it!" I screamed. Tears welled up in my eyes.
"You don't have to choose, you know." he implied.
"I don't understand."
"We could choose for you."
"I want to go home!"
"Ahh, a step closer. Now tell me, love, which home?"
"STOP!" I sobbed.
"Here...this may help." he snapped his fingers and Jack appeared.
"Where am I?" asked Jack.
Mouse? Rat? Verm-Evanna!"
"Jack!" I yelled. We ran to each other.
"Jack!" the giant man mimicked in a mockery, high-pitched tone.
"Evanna, my mother was the first. I thought she was insane, but she told me about this man. I've read about him in the book. I know how to get you out of here." Jack said.
"NONSENSE!" boomed the man
"Sense!" argued Jack to the man." You know, remember?" Yelled Jack."Let me refresh your memory, because the author was you!"
"No!" the man disappeared.
He cackled and said to me: "You may have outwitted me, but you still have to choose!" and he was gone.
Jack kissed me on the cheek and said, "Truth Evanna, I will be in the past.If you need me."
"Jack!" I love you. Come with me! To the future!"
"No. I'll turn to dust."
"Can we try? What's to live for?"
"You!"
"Okay. Fair enough." I looked up and closed my eyes and said, "I choose present!" and grabbed Jack's arm.🔹🔹🔹

We arrived in the present, and Jack was intact.
"What happened?" said Jack.
"He tricked you. He wanted you to take me to the past to save Salem. But he wanted you to think that you'd die if you came here. After you said he wrote the book, I remembered it said to trust no one. So meaning, don't trust the author. A clue. To get the best of both worlds-erm-realms."
"I never thought-"
"You weren't supposed to. But now that you did, we're exactly where we need to be."
