"- have a cold!"
"Wait, thats it?" Elphaba replied, slightly startled it did seem like there was going to be a better plot twist after over a year of waiting...
"Yep. Just get some rest and don't exert yourself too much, drink lots of water and try eat some nutritious food and you'll be right as rain in a couple days!" Said the doctorSo Elphie was discharged from hospital and her uhh... boyfriend (that she wished was more blonde and more of well, a girl) followed behind her giving her random well-intentioned but annoying rubs on the arm every so often.
"Ok so, you lie down and I'll get the kettle on, what sort of food do you want? We can nip to the markets and-"
"Fiyero, please just be quiet for 5 minutes,"So they travelled the rest of the way in silence.
•••••••••••••••••••••
When they got back Elphie trudged up to her room and pulled the covers right over her head. She sat there for a minute.
Her throat tightened and her stomach knotted as the thought of her liking a, well, girl came to mind. Not that there was anything wrong with it! Of course not it's just she had some feeling that she could like someone of the same gender. But why? It's beautiful as all relationships are, as LOVE is, but only if it were someone else.
She felt sick to her stomach at the fact that all these years and the person she
Loves (?)
Is the person she left behindNo. She thought as she knotted her delicate emerald hands together. No. She thought as her heart raced and pounded out of her chest, willing for her brain to just see the golden hair and rosy cheeks of the good witch and feel okay with the swelling in her heart.
No.
No no no no no."Elle darling! How many sugars in your tea?" Fiyer- her boyfriend shouted up the stairs.
"Just one, thanks Fi!" She shouted back down, willing her voice to sound even
As he brought her tea up he looked at her and smiled at his girlfriend. When she smiled twitchily back, her asked her how she was doing and all she said was
"Fine. Thank you Fi. I just need some quiet time. Alone."
So he shrugged his shoulders and left her, probably just groggy from her cold, he thought and he went to mow the lawn.
Meanwhile the little green artichoke pulled the covers back over her head and sobbed, she sobbed for the isolation she put herself in, she sobbed for the loss of her best friend but most of all she sobbed for aching in her heart that she did not want to place.
