"Elphie?!
No no no no, where are you?!
I'm so sorry, I could've saved you, I could've-"

Glinda lay crouched next to her best friend,s black pointed hat and glowing green vial.
It felt like a dream, her dear Elphie was not gone? She was... Where? Exactly.. where, she thought.
Her eyes swam with tears as knelt where her beloved green artichoke had stood only a few minutes ago. Alive.

"Plea- please. Please just, come back. You can't be the wicked witch forever. You're NOT the wicked witch! WHY YOU STUPID OZIANS!"

Elphaba lay underneath the trap door.
The plan worked, it worked!
Now she can stop being the wicked witch finally fly away like she wanted to from a very young age. But properly, she was going to properly this time.
She could fly away so no small minded munchkins would see her and be with finally be with Fiyero properly. They would sit but the fire and make toast, they would have picnics, they would fly. Together.
I'm not flying alone! Elphaba thought.

An anguished cry stumped her thoughts.

Then a drip drop of water.

The small droplets of water fell onto the green girl's face and ran down her cheek. As it slid down, her skin burned beneath it, creating a burning tear streaked effect.

Elphie felt the water with her tongue.

Except it wasn't water, it was tears. Glinda the Good's tears.

Elphaba listened for any signs of her, because she knew this was the closest they would be for, well, ever.

Clip clop clip clop clip clop

She heard her bedazzled pink heels touching the floor as the blonde walked away. They stopped and pivoted, as if they were waiting for someone.

"Thank you Elphie. My dear, dear Elphie. You'll never fully know how much you mean to me. Not anymore." Glind whispered into the air, as if Elphaba would ever hear her.

Elphie's heart stopped at her words. Did, did she just hear? Does that mean what she thinks it means?

The heeled shoes clip clopped away.

"Thank you Elphaba Thropp. I love you,"

No, it can't be. No no no no no.
All this time?
No, she probably just meant it in a friend way...?
Anyway, she has to go with Fiyero. Because she loves him. Right?

After all signs of Glinda were gone, Fiyero, now a scarecrow, came in and hugged her.

"We did it Elphaba! We really did it! Now we can both go and live together, and be truly happy!"
After he said this and saw that Elphie didn't want all the congratulations now, he left with a pat on the back and a kiss on the head,
"I'll leave you alone for a bit then? Meet me in the carriage just outside in 25 minutes,"

Then she was alone. In the darkness of the hole under the trap door.
The realisation of reality finally came to her.

She has just hurt her best friend, her first friend, very very badly indeed. Glinda thought she was dead. Glinda, she-
Her brain shut off. She felt terrible. The only person that had really stuck by me until the end, except from Chisery and Fiyero. But it's not the same.

So she leaned against the the dirty wall and did something she had never done, cried.
She has cried from physical pain before.

But this time was different.

This time, she cried from sadness, loss, but mostly shame. Unfiltered shame.
