"Hey baby," I said walking into Leone's arms as he approached home after a week away. As usual.

"I missed you," he said and gave me a warm kiss on my lips. Carly ran out of her room and tugged at his legs begging for attention and I chuckled at the sight of it.

"You said you would stay three days, but you stayed a whole week."

"Work demands. Remind me in the next world not to agree to being a detective," he said and we both laughed.

He walked in and I carried his bag along side him. His scent remained the same and I took a lung full of it.

He sat on the bed and I attempted straddling him to kiss him but he slowly pushed away.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I learned you visited the station?" he asked.

"Yea? What's wrong with that?"

"You knew I wasn't in. You didn't come to see me did you?"

I moved and dragged my study chair a lot closer to him. I held his hands tightly in mine and stared searchingly for his eyes.

"No I didn't. I went for something more pressing," I replied.

"You mean Edward?" he asked and he removed my hands slowly from his, "you still love him, don't you?"

"What are you talking about?" I asked trying to sound defensive.

"You love him. I'm just a distraction from that fact."

"Please stop!" I pleaded. "I love you so much and you know that. I chose you, not him. He's the father of my daughter so there is something that binds us."

"I'm sorry. It's just... I don't like the way you still mention him like he matters. He doesn't," he said planting another kiss on my lips. I nodded and stood up excusing myself with work stuff, but that was just another lie. I wasn't going to work, I wanted to place a call to know how Eva felt and probably visit Annabelle again.

"Twice in one week," she started when I stepped into Edward's. Her feet were placed on the dinning and her black leather jacket was all I saw from behind. I didn't know how she did that thing that she did quite often; The whole knowing who is behind you without looking back.

I jerked mostly because her guts freaked me out, "I just wanted to th..thank you for the other day. Carly and Eva are OK now," I said.

"You've said it. Now go before I change my mind," she added facing me. Her usual red lipstick were now replaced with black. Her blonde hair perched on her face at intervals from flipping it.

I nodded and made for the door when she called from behind, "Do you miss him? Edward? Or you are really happy dating the detective."

I stood for some time before replying, "Yeah... I'm happy with Leone," I said.

"You still owe me a favor," she called from behind.

"Anything."

"Very well. We are going on a murder quest," she replied adding a mischievous smile at the corner of her lips.

"Wh.. Who is getting killed?" I asked suddenly cold.

"The mayor... And of course anyone who gets in my way. So be careful love because I bite. And then we rescue my brother."

The last words hit me deep. I wondered if she thought I felt anything for Edward. So I indirectly pressed on.

"I know Edward is your brother but he has committed so much evil already. Don't you think you would be endangering the citizens with his release?" I asked not entirely how I had it planned out to say.

"Family first," she replied wearily as she searched an old box I hadn't noticed before. "No more questions. You ask one more question and this bullet goes into your head," she replied loading a gun.

I rose my hand in surrender and followed keenly behind her. She brought the gun down and put it in her back pocket while we took a car in his driveway.

"So, where are we going?" I asked as she revved the engine.

"That was a question," she replied waving the gun.

"I'm sorry... It's just that there is a lot going on that I can't wrap my head around," I replied.

She ignored me but stared at my confused state releasing a short brief laugh. The tyres screeched and we jerked forward before resting back.

"Good gracious! Do you have your license?" I screamed.

She shrugged making a face and before long, she pulled over. I came out only after she did and stared at that warehouse. The only time I was last there was when I tried documenting a trail left with Tess, but got none.

Annabelle placed her finger on a thumb reader and it opened. I felt I was in a different world entirely.

"How did.." I started again.

"Shh... " she replied.

"Annabelle, you brought company. It is called secret cult for a reason," I heard a lady say. She held two small glass jars. One housing sand and the other, water. She dropped the elements on a working table and sighed, "you didn't bring the girl. To track the promise, I need the blood of the twin."

"She's Bait," Annabelle said.

"Wait... What?" I asked confused.

"Edward's girl is bait?" she asked sarcastically. I noticed her accent being more pronounced than before.

"What better way to track the twin than using the mother's blood. It would be the last element you would need to complete the ritual."

"Fair enough," the lady walked up to me and tied me to a seat using a handcuff on each hand. Annabelle helped her place a duck tape over my lips. I tried wriggling free but I couldn't. I finally gave up and waited for the worst.

The lady who I later learned bore Diana, walked towards me and pricked my index finger. I whimpered but my words were inaudible. I saw my blood flow into the jar and when it reached a particular level, she left to the table.

The table had maps and great sorcery books opened and I imagined she had read all. She opened a particular page and pouring the elements on a map, she chanted words from a sorcery book.

"Dia ek veniser.. Dia ek veniser,"

Immediately, the cool breeze turned into a terrifying wind and controlled the movements of the water, blood and sand. It encircled in a state and she looked at the map.

"She is in Florida. The mayor is as weak as ever now, you can kill him," Diana said. "Remember my end of the bargain," Diana added.
"Of course, how would I forget?" she replied and twisted Diana's neck. Diana fell with a loud thud and died.

"What? Why did you do that?"

"Because I don't take advice from anyone. I needed her alliance, but I wasn't so sure if I had it."

"So you had to kill her?" I asked a bit shaky.

"Yes!"
